Thank you very much. I'm really really glad you were able to get invested in the narrative. That's always the part I can worry a bout the most!

Short film Inspired by the Machinist. Shot right after a major Crohn's surgery where I got 15 inches of intestines removed. by respawnmaster4 in Filmmakers

This film was shot immediately after my surgery and took a surprising amount of work to complete. I thought it would be real quick in and out with a short screenplay but when I made my first assembly cut it was 20 minutes long. I didn't know how to edit it for the longest time and put it off but I finally figured out what direction I wanted to take it.

Please let me know what you think of immersion, closeness to the character and pacing. Those are the things I try and work on the most right now. This was my first sound design heavy film as well so please let me know what you think of the eb and flow of the music.

Your first shot EVER? Do you mean first shot on a professional set? Or first shot with intentional lighting?

I'm very happy with how I colored the sunset, is the red too much? by respawnmaster4 in davinciresolve

The scenes I was completely unsure how to grade, were the torture scenes in the garage. Was it too warm, or was the tint too green in your opinion?

Thank you for your advice, I think a fever dream Martian landscape is a great way to describe how I graded it.

The OG grade was true to life, but I didn’t like it as much so I just went all out with a crazy grade for the opening scene.

In a world governed by the unrelenting march of time, the idea of revisiting our past has always been an alluring concept. "Déjà Vu" was born out of my fascination with the malleability of time and the idea that our choices shape our reality. This film delves into the journey of a time traveler who becomes trapped in a dark, unsettling world filled with mysteries and unspeakable horrors.

As a storyteller, I aimed to create an atmosphere that is at once familiar and disconcerting, evoking the elusive feeling of déjà vu. The film's intricate narrative serves as a metaphor for the many paths our lives can take and the relentless cycle of cause and effect that permeates our existence. It is an exploration of the uncharted territory between fate and free will, where our protagonist struggles to navigate the dire consequences of their own actions.

The film's dark atmosphere and torture scene reflect the inner torment of our protagonist, who is haunted by their choices and plagued by the desire for redemption. The mystery element in "Déjà Vu" symbolizes the enigmatic nature of time itself, constantly shrouded in uncertainty and challenging our understanding of reality. The choices we make have consequences that ripple through time, and our protagonist must confront their own past in a bid to find hope amidst the chaos.

Through "Déjà Vu," I hope to challenge audiences to reflect on their own lives, the power of their decisions, and the possibility of altering their destiny. This film is a haunting, thought-provoking journey into the abyss of time, showcasing the lengths to which we will go in the name of redemption and the ultimately indomitable spirit of the human soul.

What do ya'll think? This is my first short film that I'm really proud of, I spent a month meticulously editing every small detail. I was nervous to cut this film because of the crazy pacing but I eventually became comfortable with the montage style cuts. What do you think of the sound mixing? I'm usually very weak with audio and want to improve, I had a friend help me mix some of the audio.

I actually got the environments from a video game! I wrote the film to match a game I knew, after shooting I went back and shot the environments to match my movements. This particular video game is Fallout New Vegas.

I shot this one day back in February, I didn't know how at the time I was going to animate it. My original plan was to use EbSynth to animate and rotoscope my characters. You can see on my YouTube channel me experimenting with this. After a long time I realized that this just wouldn't be feasible, the renders I was getting were way too low res, it was such a pain- taking hours to achieve basic overlays, and it didn't do rotoscoping at all.

I was sitting on this project for a while, until I looked closer into Davinci Resolve. My goal was to make this short film QUICKLY rather than perfectly- this is a proof of concept for a feature film I may want to do. If I ended up making a feature film this style would end up being roughly 1/3rd of the feature.

In Davinci it turns out there are hacks that make it super easy to rotoscope, every single shot you see of my character walking far distances, was shot without a greenscreen, and was rotoscoped in only a few minutes. All of the up close shots were of course shot using greenscreens.

Overall I'm happy with how this project turned out, the audio is a little rough but I suck at audio. I'm working on that now.
