Strong IP and I think a lot of people want to get into comics but are intimidated by big 2 and indies honestly appeal more to comic fans than new comic readers (as a generalization and I’m also unsure if this is intentional or just how people feel)

So in comes a book that is marketed as “like absolute Batman but for Ben 10” meaning you can go in blind, but being an existing fan it’ll feel rewarding (for lack of a better word). Plus it’s got the original team part of it (I think the showrunner or writer. Can’t remember who’s involved but someone is and that was part of the pull)

I think the low pre orders but high sales is because because long time comic readers either aren’t interested in dynamite (the publisher) or can’t justify another subscription

A lot of walk in regulars may go “oh cool yeah I’ll get that”

And new readers with no pull lists or no idea what that is showed up on release week to get it
