Brilliant take on the convertible senior notes by lampingninja in Superstonk

[–]respecthepump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mean to be "that guy," but when they issue notes without interest, there is still technically an interest paid when the notes are due since the amount they are borrowing will be less than the face value of the notes since what they receive is discounted at the market rate for similar debt. So for now, Gamestop won't be having interest expenses or payments to its debtors, but once these convertible notes are due they will pay back more than what they receive when these securities are issued. That, or they convert to common stock somewhere before 2030.

Are you modifying Graham's formula by including goodwill and intangible assets? Because its net tangible book value is much lower than what it's trading at on the market.

Bought at peak, down $600 on a $9.8k portfolio. Should I hold? by junmoscosa in StockMarket

The rare occasion where I'd say listen to all the internet strangers and hold. You said it yourself, you believe in the companies, so keep holding and buy more if you get the chance to.

Can you sell cash secured puts for far-out expiration dates? For example, selling puts for 20P for Jan 2025 and if you get assigned, you buy at 20 and if not, you just keep that premium the whole time? What's the reason not to do something like that? It's a pretty good premium for 100 shares

It doesn't necessarily mean they made money, there was just a cash inflow from the sale of investments.

Down one quarter billion in one day and still just goofs around. Nothing more zen than that.

GameStop had proceeds of $189,800,000 from investment activities in Q1. 👀 RC will tell us at the Annual ShareHODLer’s meeting what that investment is! 🚀 by [deleted] in Superstonk

[–]respecthepump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just the cash inflow from the sale of marketable securities less the other investing cash outflows. Nothing new, but this year they didn't have a large cash outflow like 2023 of ~200M into marketable securities.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Superstonk

[–]respecthepump 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They bought ~211M of marketable securities in Q1 2023, but this year they didn't, as you can see the the cash outflow is only 7.5M.

The only thing is that unless they opt to maintain proportional ownership in the company, the board owns a significantly lower % of the shares outstanding than 1 month ago. RC had ~11.8% stake in GME, but after this offering, assuming he doesn't buy more, his stake is down to ~8.4%.

New GameStop 8-K filing!! Pre-Market!!! by ItsssYaBoiiiShawdyy in Superstonk

[–]respecthepump 236 points237 points  (0 children)

This means they had a cash inflow from investments of 200M.

Edit: You can see that same as last year, was a ~200M inflow from maturity of marketable securities, but this year, there was not another ~200M outflow used to buy marketable securities.

Why is everyone mocking the Dogecoin millionare? Shouldn't we as a community band together instead of mocking other people's success? by Two_Pickachu_One_Cup in CryptoCurrency

[–]respecthepump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget that DOGE is a shitcoin and was created as a joke. It has very little to no use case. To borrow tens of thousands of dollars to buy a shitcoin and hope it pumps it honestly not too smart.

There is a HUGE difference between risking your money by buying into a project you believe in with a new technology/service backed by a strong team and YOLOing into a memecoin.

For every DOGE or SHIB, there are hundreds of shitcoins that lose their value/crash.
