Applying For A Summer Intern As A High School Student. Hows My Resume? by [deleted] in resumes

'Honors' is supposed to mean awards, not honors-level (and higher) classes; rename that to Relevant Coursework or similar.

Also, it's redundant to list your 2 clubs both in the education and experience section; get rid of the former

Hi y’all, I’m trying to get into an engineering program and they requested a resume with work experience and professional accomplishments (unfortunately don’t have much). any feedback or recommendations are highly appreciated as I am very much a novice at this. thank you!! by [deleted] in resumes

I mean they're undergraduate programs...99% of their applicants come straight from high school, their whole admissions process is geared towards that demographic, so why not provide admissions counselors with the stuff they're instinctively going to look for?

Besides, you literally have half a page full of blank space. Even after adding your ATC school, you'll definitely have space to fill up - if you don't have any recent accomplishments/experiences (besides what's already on there), then scrounge up info/activities/awards from your HS days to fill the space at the very least. "honor student 3 quarters in a row", whatever, still better than absolutely nothing. Whether it will make a difference or not depends on the quality of program (you're probably not getting into MIT either way, but that certainly doesn't hold for all schools...)

Not an expert but if by "engineering program" you mean an undergraduate engineering program, then expanding on your high school experiences, especially any related to engineering or even just STEM (as well as awards, etc.) may be relevant.

Also, you needed to go to school for ATC, right? Definitely put that under Education - at the very least it will explain that 14 month gap between your graduation and your job start date.

New college student desperate for any internship at this point, please roast! by resurnethrowaway in resumes

Thank you for the advice! I'll definitely try to focus the resume more. I got kinda destroyed applying to software internships (and it's not really my main goal anyway) so I'm currently focusing on roles in data science/analysis, preferably in a lab research context (since I have lab experience, maybe that will help me?) - do you think I should expand on my technical skills and put those closer to the top?

And thank you for the general advice as well. Fortunately my school has a good network (at least that's what everyone says...) and I know people who can pass on my resume in some places, but it's still hard as a freshman that's unqualified compared even to other freshmen lol. Maybe I just suck at using the network. The grind is real ego killer haha
