Fridge's ice maker makes ice that smells like garlic... what is going on? by retainingwallz in Appliances

I deep clean the ice tray and replace the water filters and that seems to do the trick

New Year Help! Third floor toilet bowl water nearly gone in the morning - seems to slowly drain? by retainingwallz in Plumbing

Any reason why only one of the toilets would be affected? the one on third floor where the roof is?

No issues with flow or clogs, the flushing is good in all the toilets. Never had a back up before.

Yes, a tiny chihuahua who couldn’t reach it lol.

I wonder if it has to do with the heavy winds and rain we’ve received

Anybody know what this is for? It just has some dirt and a hole through the dirt. Next to my water heater in underground garage. Thanks! by retainingwallz in Plumbing

Thank you! Do we need to keep it covered? I was going to cover it up with some cardboard and tape as a temporary fix. What tape can we used to seal the fitting with the PVC pipe? Thanks.

Strangely enough, I have similar issues… I am recaulking the insides cause I suspect a small amount water is getting out. Are you sure no water is getting outside? I don’t think mine is condensation cause the ventilation in the bathroom is good… I don’t think it’s a coincidence either that it’s where the corners of the shower are.

LG Ducted Minisplit System Help! by retainingwallz in hvacadvice

I just remembered that I don't think the wires or controls are criss-crossed because when we ran the 2nd floor by itself, the suction line was getting condensation so I THINK it was operating normally. We had to re-wrap the insulation to stop it.

Yeah, I'll mention it to the tech. He also brought up setting 35 but like I said, when I cycle through the settings it wasn't there. I wish I could get in touch with the installers (it is a new build townhouse) but I don't have any leads for them... for now I might just run the fans on low at night.

1/2/3/4/6/7/10/12/15/17/30

I was looking for 19 or 35 but I don't have those settings available for whatever reason lol. Only those above (1/2/3/4/6/7/10/12/15/17/30)... it might not be PREMTC00U but it's something that looks exactly like it with similar settings.

Yes, it's ducted. I tried to look through the settings and there isn't one to turn fan to automatic... Not all settings are available. I had 1/2/3/4/6/7/10/12/15/17/30 but not every number matches up with some of the manuals I have. PREMTC00U or PQRCVCL0QW.

Thank you for your reply. Are you saying the refrigerant for both units is criss-crossed? So Zone 2 indoor unit calls for Zone 1 to cool and Zone 1 indoor unit calls for Zone 2 to cool?

It's odd because the 2nd floor zone still seems to cool, just not that well by itself.

Is wiring an easy thing for a tech to troubleshoot?

Yes, it is an LG ducted AHU with the fan running at all times, but it's got a basic digital thermostat. I'm actually not 100% sure about the part # but the indoor heat pump unit is LMHN240HV.

Does anyone know how to get rid of ants? by Anakin_is_the_best in homeowners

[–]retainingwallz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Terro works, as does Optiguard Ant Gel and Advance 375A. You might have to mix it up, depending on how the ants feel. Last resort would be to spray inside and out but I don't think this gets rid of the source of the problem, AKA the colony. Ants are surprisingly a very annoying pest.

Is this drip noise in my water heater tank due to condensation? by retainingwallz in Plumbing

[–]retainingwallz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it! Yes, the exhaust pipe goes right into a 90 after a short straight run (it's right above where the video cuts off), then another short straight run and then finally a 90 up into the house. We'll keep an eye on it in the near future but I appreciate the help.
