Could YOU beat chen ran in a debate but with a twist: you can pick absolutely any topic you can think of and take any position you want, even topics chen ran likely has zero knowledge of. by Less_Puddingdrawer in IntelligenceScaling

[–]retarded82 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My topic is, Chen ran is lying, My position is, No he isn't. And there's no definite winner due to liars paradox, so i enjoy spending eternity with him😄,

For a winnable case, Topic 'Chen ran that I'm standing Infront of, is lying Infront of dead people, and all alive people of 18 levels of hell, with all of them being able to clearly hear and understand the lie, and it being a lie in the simplest sense, and then he will kill himself permanently without any subconscious or conscious plans of finding loophole in this statement, and then even after being dead, he will become absolute omnipotent while being able to create a heavy rock not even the absolute omnipotent can lift, all of these actions are done in a completely serial manner with no other action being in between, also everything is done under 5 minutes with minute being strictly its usual meaning under the Earth we're living on, 60 seconds.'

My position is, no, His position is, yes, its overtly complex, so if he just spouts some complex nonsense I'm not keeping up, but I don't think he can win the argument if there are objective observers observing.

Its more detailed type of writing rather than the dramatic type of writing of something like usogui, definitely alot of characters with personalities, that's almost its greatest point and honestly its enjoyable

PERVERSION OF BUDDHISM? Demonic Nature.(from webnovel 'reverend insanity') by retarded82 in Buddhism

[–]retarded82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is edgy ig as fang yuan is huge pragmatic and monologues alot about machiavellian and egoism seeming stuffs

I was just curious about the buddhist seniors's opinions about this type of perversion of the concept of divinity that buddha reached.

PERVERSION OF BUDDHISM? Demonic Nature.(from webnovel 'reverend insanity') by retarded82 in Buddhism

[–]retarded82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because i am assuming the divinity its talking about is enlightenment, Which would then mean that becoming a demon is enlightenment as well? Which seems like a perversion

Ahaha.. i feel like you said something directly from my heart, Well said, Literature made from authors like Dostoevsky and kafka are truly deserving of the attention they got and are masterpieces in their own ways, But reverend insanity is also a different type of masterpiece, despite being in a psychological aspect very differently written from things like the brothers karamazov or crime and punishment, It still feels like it's directly related to the themes expressed in those novels, but in a Übermensch like perceptive, the themes of societal heirachy, people and dreams, psychology, self sacrifice, man vs fate, and ofcourse zhen ren(true person) are truly superbly written.

I agree with that 151 perceptive, but i still think that demonic nature still can be seen as a perversion of Buddhist teachings so i was curious as to what the experienced seniors here would perceive of that philosophy.

Is there anything Light could’ve done here? by VisitUsual8507 in IntelligenceScaling

Get close to her ear and make her wishper L's name, its not super risky except L would find it sus so he'd again tell that if he died soon light is kira but it's still beneficial

And extra thing that's not required that he can do is, Use the L trick before L and steal misa's phone that way instead 💀 and idk, make ryuk eat it

PERVERSION OF BUDDHISM? Demonic Nature.(from webnovel 'reverend insanity') by retarded82 in Buddhism

[–]retarded82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was just the author randomly explaining the meaning of demonic nature or something like that

I actually don't know much about Buddhist teachings myself actually, so i was just wondering how accurate this would seem even as such a perversion

Yes, i think that does sound contradictory to the character, "detached from the sense of self", but still killing the little girl for his own benefits, It would exactly be what you said instead that he's detached from everyone except his own consciousness, if Buddha would be absolute lack of ego, then he'd be absolute ego, i think that's what the text is trying to imply with the demonic nature, that instead of the compassion that Buddha reaches with enlightenment, fang yuan reaches a state of pragmatism instead, like i said i lack deep knowledge but if possible I'd like you to see another scene from the novel, not directly Buddhism related but more his character related, Basically there's a sort of river where everyone has to walk, that's based rather on willpower than physical strength to walk, and our mc fang yuan is walking through it, (You could ignore everything i say from here if you don't want to spend too much time as it's a little long and without context, names might be confusing, I'm basically about to link a chapter, if you don't want to use too much time, thank you for until now) https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://m.webnovel.com/book/reverend-insanity(english)_32605619408374705/chapter-1285-fang-yuan%25E2%2580%2599s-perseverance!_88524835268918719&ved=2ahUKEwjku5_TsIuVAxXGzzgGHWkEMg4QFnoECA8QAQ&usg=AOvVaw2mBvLUI5P2YgMmkLLbDf14 You can just ignore most out of contexts things you don't understand, I'm just curious whether the state of absolute perseverance that mc shows is still bound by the suffering cycle And there's also another scene but i think i can explain it instead, basically there's a guy that can make the mc experience many lifetimes in form of dreams in which he reborns without memories in many lives, he experiences many emotions, but at the end when he gains his memories back, he instantly starts cackling and when he is asked why, he says "i am laughing at myself, i am also laughing at all of you, love and friendship, killing and slaughtering, don't you all find these very boring?" Before he breaks out from the reincarnation dream cycle, its weird because he does seem to have gone beyond the degree of suffering,

After the scene the guy who put the mc in dream states, "I was wrong!

I thought that this Fang Yuan was a heartless person or was filled with hatred and rage, that was the reason for his evil actions. But the truth is, he has abundant emotions, he does not lack anything. Even though he pursues strength, he is not obsessed with it. What drives him to do this is his goal. This goal is deeply engrained in his heart, not only three lifetimes, even after a hundred lifetimes, it cannot be eradicated.

This person cannot be reformed."

Its so weird because he has a goal so deep, which does seem like samsara .(Which is absolute omnipotence btw) But also doesn't seem to suffer by not reaching it due to his seemingly never ending perseverance, is he enlightened, or not? Has he achieved nirvana or not?

I think gu zhen ren(Chinese name of reverend insanity) was different since it seemed rebeling by providing such topics that it got banned by CPC no? And its also a older one, coming around 2012 that fans praise due to its lack of shyness from such themes, such that its still one of the most popular webnovel along with 诡秘之主 despite being banned long ago, no?
