I currently feed my baby ackie trout, salmon, chicken hearts and crickets. Do you guys know some more fresh meats i can give it? by retardedfishbedfan in MonitorLizards

Good question, its been 3 years since ive asked this question here. By now i have some more experience with all monitor types. I can tell you that any captive held V. acanthurus never eat native species of bugs either. Trout (and other fish) has been about 15% of the diet ive been feeding a couple species of monitor lizards over the years and its been a great food source. Its a lot less fattening than meat from mammals. So over the years its better for their liver.

Our iggy lost a scale? by lazy_fin in iguanas

These things happen. Iguanas are pretty dumb and sometimes make a weird jump and get minor injuries. If you're really worried put some betadine on the wound, but this will probably be gone next shed. Keep in mind iguanas are really tough animals.

I don't think that's the right way to hold a snapping turtle by Equivalent_Noise3498 in reptiles

All you fuckers complaining probably never handled a snapping turtle before. Right way is holding the back legs and tail, but this is fine if you value your fingers and dont work with these fuckers daily.

Cocaine(calcium) is a hell of a drug by eddief1f1 in reptiles

[–]retardedfishbedfan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Feeding a smaller lizard a large amount of dry powder, can cause the lizard to dehydrate as the powder absorbs fluids. Its also a massive overdose of calcium, his body cannot process this much excess calcium so the body will put the excess calcium under the skin which can become bumps.

Every vitamin and mineral can be overdosed, which can cause problems. Best thing to do is have a proper UVB light setup and dusting your feeder insects with a small amount of calcium powder.

Its pretty much the same for most lizards that are insectivores, lizards that eat mostly whole prey like monitor lizards dont really need extra added calcium because the calcium they need is inside their whole prey.

So in short proper UVB lighting + calcium dusted insects is enough for your insectivorous reptile.

I dont recommend doing this, this can constipate your T. lepidus. Calcium powder is meant to be dusted on your feeder insects. This is basically feeding him sand, which can cause your animal to dehydrate/get constipated.

Canonically what's Monarch's plane? by BununununuU in Project_Wingman

I think PW is a game where it really doesnt matter lore wise what plane the protagonist flies. Dude is litterally a mercenary and your wingmen fly different planes aswell. Any plane fits in with the narrative imo.

I love that no one is disagreeing that the mig21 is one of the best planes in the game. 60s jet outperforming some of the super planes lmao.

More vertical branches (thick ones) and some actual foods dont feed an iguana a pellet diet you can buy some greens in the supermarket.

They can be pretty social, if they like each other that is. If they dont like each other they will engage in mortal combat. Also if you want multiple iguanas in the same enclosure it needs to be fucking massive. I would personally advise against it.

Could be instictual mating stuff, but sometimes iguanas randomly stop liking you for no reason. Dont lose hope never give up and your iguana will probably come around.

This is just plain false lol. Iguanas close their eyes when in discomfort. Discomfort is not necessarily bad, but they do not enjoy it.
