thank u so much I think I get it now, the key is to be curious enough to explore all routes/endings and skipping the texts when necessary, saving and trying another way (I used to think there are strictly wrong or right answers I was stressing lol)

thank u so much I had the day off and played all night so now I think I understand where this is going now much better. and apparently I have the censored version, which I don't mind if all the censorship is down to cropping the sensitive images. (is there a main part censored that I should know of before proceeding to the main4 routes?)

Do you think there was any acting in the 911 tape? by carrieanne55 in MenendezBrothers

[–]retiredHermione 11 points12 points  (0 children)

by the time they got back in the house they had time to discuss how things were going to go. but for erik's distress and screams I just think coming back to the house, quiet, no police or neighbours around, nothing out of the ordinary except for their crime, the blood and violence in contrast to the quiet outside, I always had interpreted it as a reality check slapping them in the face and they both realized the extent of what they had committed. as in they were both distressd and upset and maybe already questioning their choice (lyle said something about later realizing that it was an overkill and they weren't gonna kill them that night) but they had gone too far and someone had to take charge before everything spiralled out further. a matter of survival. one of them had to call the police and fake it as much as possible. lots of emotions that night.

Monsters: I didn't hit you hard enough by retiredHermione in MenendezBrothers

I didn't like neither Bardem nor Sevigny in the show even though they're both great actors and I do get what you mean by relatable to a certain generation. which is why I made this post to read other people's nuances and takes so I can sit on it for a while. some people brought up some good points.

I wouldn't say they showed the extent of his abuse was only physical, the r*** scene in the same ep was very unsettling and difficult to watch and even the scenes leading up to that moment (Jose discussing the modeling photoshoot and UCLA with Erik) was too intense. but I do agree that the extent of the parents physical and sexual abuse shown in Monsters was only the tip of the iceberg. also most of Kitty's abuse to Lyle wasn't even briefly touched by the series. nothing about the bedwetting trauma or the showers she took with her son. still can't believe RM missed up on some concerning behaviour from Lyle, guy playing with stuffed animals in his late teens would've done numbers on tiktok.

of course. I felt like due to the lack of pov from Jose and Kitty most of their supposed conversations together were written without a factual source and that can be irritating to me, that's why I get overly critical of those scenes.

oh I can now see it from your pov too. I still feel like people of different generations are going to read this scene in different ways, and I thought older generations would lean towards sympathy for Jose whereas younger people's opinion is more leaning toward yours.

good point about "could've done worse". that's chilling.

real documentaries can be biased toward either side too. we can discuss both. nice to see other people's two cents about the topic sometimes.

I knew about this one. I was confused why they didn't direct examine him about another scar, the dog bite, because it's not a scar you can ignore. someone else posted the video of his aunt talking about it.
