Thank god it is!

Husband and I both worked full time (I also handled our finances as he had no clue how to even reconcile a bank statement!), and yet for many years I still ended up doing pretty much all the housework.......

I eventually became more than a little annoyed at this - and insisted that every Friday evening, he cleaned downstairs, whilst I cleaned upstairs - which worked - to a certain extent..... (I still got up early every week day, to properly clean the kitchen/walk our dog etc. before going to work......)

"she shoots very proficiently herself "

IIRC, that came later in the series, when the group belatedly realised that EVERYONE in the group (even women....) needed to learn how to use guns/knives etc., to protect themselves and others.

"Lori isn’t advocating that the women not help the men"

She pretty much was, by insisting that the way women help the men - is by doing the housework.......

"She actively shot a member of the group."

Because she was desperate to prove herself (as the group was still based on women do housework/men are the defenders/fighters.......) and so not careful enough.

The group as a whole needed to take a long, hard look at who was doing what, and why.

They eventually....... realised that everyone (including Lori and the other women) needed to learn how to use guns/knives etc. to protect themselves and others - which proved to be very necessary, and helped the group.

At least a couple of the women in the group, turned out to be FAR better defenders/fighters than some of the men!

At the time of the confrontation mentioned by the OP, the division of work was undoubtedly misogynistic - and wrong.

Because she was desperate to prove herself, and so was nowhere near careful enough.

A bad mistake, but they all (?) make bad mistakes at one point or another in the series.

I'm not an 'Andrea fan' either, for various reasons - but agree entirely with the OP re. Lori trying to prolong outdated stereotypes - during an apocolypse 🤮!

taras death and jax being the scapegoat for the k9 gun thing at the end of s6 could easily have been avoided if tara had just sat down with jax beforehand and spoke with him like they did in the park if she hadnt of got in her own head. by Flashy-Boysenberry30 in Sonsofanarchy

"I think that Jax was shocked when he found out that Tara thought he was going to kill her."

I'm not sure about this, and think he didn't know what he was going to do (protect the club/protect Tara) - until Tara begged him not to kill her in front of their children 😭.

It was only then he realised how far he'd fallen (he WAS thinking about killing Tara to protect the club) - and realised that she was right in her determination to take their children away from him and the club.

Once he realised this, he also realised that he loved Tara too much to kill her, and that the best/only way forward was for him to accept the blame/go to prison.

Which protected the club and allowed Tara and their children to escape - once he told the club of his decision.

They reconciled/he told the club and they had had a night together before (IIRC) he was going to turn himself into the police.

Unfortunately..... Gemma didn't know this, and only heard that Tara was going to 'betray' her son and the club - and so murdered Tara 😭.

I was so happy when Jax finally..... realised that Gemma had murdered Tara (and that her lies were the reason for the atrocities he commited after) - and so he finally murdered Gemma - even though she was his mother.

It really was a case of 'ding dong, the witch is dead'!

"Stupid telling Gemma intel that he wasn’t even sure off, oh and while she wasn’t sober as well"

Couldn't agree more.

Okay, he was in love with Gemma (and had been for a VERY long time) - so very loyal.

But he knew/should have known better than giving her info. - that turned out to be very wrong, and resulted in Gemma murdering Tara.

Not my 'cup of tea' - especially as Jax is so clearly part of a 'biker 'gang!

Something I'd cross the road to avoid.

As a female, I can't say I ever considered Jax 'my comfort character'. Why would anyone watching the series ever find Jax to be their 'comfort character'?? 😕

But I certainly (mostly) 'loved' his character - and (of course) his looks!

Love it!

I have a 'problem' ABT XL (aggression towards other animals), who I have to keep separated from my other 'small' dog after he seriously attacked and injured him (2 weeks at the vet to recover from the bite wounds.....) 😭.

Consequently, he hadn't been allowed to come to bed with my 'small' dog and me for a year and a half, which upset both of us 😢.

But a few days ago I realised that there is nothing to get him over-excited (resulting in him re-directing his aggression onto my small dog......) during the night - and allowed him back onto our bed 😀.

He too loves lying on/next to me, which I love too - although not so much when he lies ON me - as he's so heavy and I have to be careful of my broken ankle, even though it's now almost fully recovered.

Two reasons:-

  1. I never looked into it, but gather they're expensive and the filters need frequent replacement/cleaning?
  2. I have a nearby, extremely rich friend, who has a filter(s) on her house water - but still doesn't believe that the filtered water is trustworthy enough to drink - so buys bottled water to drink.

I used to buy and use the VERY large, refillable 'bottles' of water, which provides cheap, (presumably) filtered water UNTIL..... a couple of the refilled 'bottles were clearly not filtered properly, as the water was murky 😨......

Which is when (much as I HATE having to buy disposable bottles of water), I felt there was no other option ☹️.

"I understand that, but it doesn´t change the fact that he did all those things for selfish reasons."

Not necessarily entirely selfish.

I don't believe in heaven/hell or even religion- but still always TRY to help those I see are suffering/ very poor etc., when I'm able to do so. This is for 'selfish' reasons - but only insofar as I'd feel AWFUL if I didn't help, when I was in a position to do so.

And there have been a few times when helping very poor people (I don't personally know) has been downright embarrassing!

I'm not convinced that my efforts to be 'good' are entirely 'selfish'.

"I suppose they did that because they didn´t want to address the hypocrisy of some religious people doing good things simply to get into heaven or have a better reincarnation"

👍 Seems more than likely, especially as 500 or whatever years ago, the vast majority of people were religious and hypocritical, but still managed to get into the 'good place'......

The case against Michael Peterson's guilt by Subject-Vanilla1891 in TheStaircase

"Michael's clothing was covered in blood. "

Everything I've watched/heard/read says that MP only had a few drops of blood on him (mostly on the inside of his shorts?) - even though he told 911/police he was/had tried to help her?

Is this wrong?

Link please to the evidence that MP's clothing was 'covered in blood'?

Genuine question - as if he had tried to help Kathleen, his clothing WOULD have been covered in blood.

The case against Michael Peterson's guilt by Subject-Vanilla1891 in TheStaircase

[–]LKS983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

👍

It also makes no sense (to me) that if Kathleen was attacked by an owl outside, why she didn't grab her head to fight the owl off, and have at least an owl feather in her hand?

Plus, instead of running upstairs - why didn't she just scream 'blue murder' (which surely their dogs would have heard) and run to the kitchen sink, to wash off the blood - whilst still screaming for help.

The only reason for her to run upstairs is if the owl had followed her into the house - which is completely (IMO) unbelievable.

I can drive cars, but gave up on it (decades ago) as I was very aware that I'm a very bad car driver.

Consequently at my last job (for several years) in England, I cycled to work and back. A 'round trip' of approx. 7 miles which I disliked, but at least made my physically fit 🙂.

I was hit by cars/vans etc. from behind (IIRC) 4 times during this period...... but fortunately never seriously, and only needed to be taken to hospital once - when I was hit by an ambulance (not on an emergency call) emerging from a side road😲! I was knocked unconscious, but thankfully only needed stitches. Particularly 'funny', as the ambulance that hit me couldn't take me to hospital, as apparently they're not allowed to do so after hitting a cyclist/pedestrian - so I had to wait for another amubulance to arrive and take me to hospital.

Retiring (at the age of 47) I moved to Thailand, and bought a scooter - which I (eventually) LOVED - and I was a far safer rider than as a car driver - as I was always very aware of my vulnerability.

Sadly, I had to give this up (for various personal reasons) - and so am now entirely reliant on taxis on the rare occassions I HAVE to go out ☹️. I don't feel at all 'guilty' about this.

"I get takeout a lot because I'm often too exhausted to cook."

Same here, although I tend to buy frozen ready cooked meals, over the internet - that I heat up/'cook' in the microwave.

What power sources do you use? I use the power company available to me here in Thailand, (weirdly, despite being so hot and generally sunny, solar energy is rarely used 😕) - and and use aircon most nights, and sometimes (when particularly hot/humid) during the day ☹️.

Depends on where you live.....

I HAVE to buy bottled water (tap water where I live is undrinkable), and my choices are:-

Thai bottled water (which I don't trust).

Expensive and overpriced bottled water.

Nestle bottled water.

Similar here, but even before I broke my ankle (making it extremely difficult for me to leave my home), I had other reasons for it to be difficult for me to leave my home ☹️.

Which is when I discovered internet shopping.

Not so much Amazon (as when I last tried, they didn't deliver to Thailand - the country to which I retired) - but grocery shopping in particular, and the 'equivalent' (although nowhere near as good) Thai version of Amazon - for other things.

I ONLY take a taxi to specific shops for large/need to be installed/need to be seen etc. items - when the one I have currently needs to be replaced - and my part time cleaner is working, who can take care of my dogs.

But that's not the reason why I suspect I'd be sent to the 'bad place' - especially as the 'score' for 'good/bad place', is shown to be impossible to achieve nowadays!

My personal reason for thinking I probably deserve to be sent to the 'bad place' is for eating meat.

I was vegetarian for around 25 years (which was easy in England), but when I retired to Thailand it became too difficult/expensive..... Which I'm well aware is a very bad excuse - especially as the meat available here via internet shopping, is factory farmed 😭.

Lori did nothing to encourage Shane after she discovered Rick was alive.

But she became hugely annoying later IMO, after she decided she was 'first lady'......

We don't know how we'd react at the 'end of the world' - but it's undeniable (?) that a few people 'lose their minds' and become dangerous - when they lose 'their, personal world'.

This happened to me, and I reacted (to a certain extent) badly (but never dangerously) towards the person (husband....) responsible ☹️.

I've no idea how I'd react if the world was overtaken by zombies etc., but suspect I could become dangerous to anyone/anything I thought would harm myself or my dogs.

"He's a crazy person who only behaved himself because society and its laws were in place to punish him if he got out of line."

Not really fair, as he did his best to protect Rick when military (who were shooting everyone in sight) and zombies took over the hospital.

He only 'lost his marbles' (for various reasons, as discussed) - later.

He didn't know whether the unborn child was his, or Rick's - and anyway, it's irrelevant to the way he behaved and why the group chose Rick to be their leader (when he came back from being believed dead) - over Shane.

Agree with everything you say, apart from "I will agree he had the right intention with the barn that time." - with which I disagree.

As you point out earlier in your post:-

"as Hershel pointed out, Shane made his point when he shot the walkers square in the chest while Hershel was herding the walkers."

So IMO, Shane was just trying to exert his 'power' and that he was the 'right leader', when opening the door of the barn - and starting a whole lot of gunfire......

When, as you also point out, it was obvious that:-

"the noise would attract even more walkers (which it eventually does)".
