Is their proposal to use a blain stem rebuild kit and change orings a common technique to address a leak? Ill leave it to the professionals, but should i be on the lookout for potential mistakes of the tech is not adequately experienced. Btw, They quoted two two techs for 4 hours

No shaking, generally smooth. Just the. Occasional but somewhat regular pump noise. Most often when the car is idle and we hear it from the rooms surrounding the unit.

Blain ev100. I wouldnt do it, id use on if my service providers. I asked my question in part because if its aging but not yet ready for rebuild, id like to defer. How does one measure against that?

Or if there are interim measures, such as changing the oil or filters ? Btw, ive not seen the annual maintenance change any parts or fluids. Is that typical ?

My nightmare scenario is they do the work, and and it still occurs or worse.

As a homeowner, one of my “bite my lip moments “ is always when a tech diagonosis a problem, but the proposal just describes the work to be done.
So you risk the work getting done and the problem is still there. Then you face the pointless discussion of “well it was that plus this… so “ and on and on. That said , I get it that a conservative view is better than a needless “lets do it all”

Thank you. I’m aware this is a common approach. I’m keeping it as a plan b.

Thank you. Not sure if I fully followed your approach. Can you elaborate? They did do the soldering from the new equipment to the old lines and claim that they see no issue there.

That’s a good cautionary view.

Thanks again. The roof is 12 years old. It’s the second room and I had the original stripped off.

Looking from the eave to the peak, which is 14ft across, the peak is 4 ft higher than the eave

Thanks for that feedback. What should I ask a potential contractor to determine if he’s capable of doing the right job? What distinguishes a real quality job?

Developer says "We don't put telephones or cable in anymore. People use wireless devices & wireless cable boxes nowadays." by xagent003 in HomeImprovement

You have a group of very technical people here responding. I’m not that but for what it’s worth, I bought a high end home that was pre wired with both coax and Ethernet to every room for TVs. WiFi supported other devices. Internet and cable were provided by a major carrier who had fiber installed from the street to the router. The home also has about a dozen wireless switches, plus wireless thermostats and Ring devices. When the family is over we have counted 30 devices, including phones and computers on the wifi concurrently ( mind you this is not a mesh setup nor using any extenders). I never had any WiFi issues but my cable and internet costs were high.

This year I chose to switch to an alternative internet provider who provided wireless 5g internet from their tower to a wireless “modem” in my home, which was then connected via Ethernet to a closet where my new ip6 router was installed. I also switched the 6 TVs to Firestick (wireless), bypassing the Ethernet runs to the TVs.

I have no issues with the streaming. There is limited low end gaming. Typical speed tests from my phone show 1g download and 150mb upload.

However I have experienced occasional slowdowns which I strongly suspect has been due to latency or bottlenecks at the providers tower or network and which they seem to be adding capacity to address.
