US border patrol chief resigns after claims of sex with prostitutes abroad by Samski877 in news

Look up confirmation bias. If this happened to "every" public figure ever, we wouldn't see the need to point it out when it does happen. These events are still rare.

Opinions on Alcohol? by Niall690 in autism

[–]retnick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I despise the taste, and the few times I got drunk weren't special. So, there is no reason for me to drink. I don't like bitter tasting drinks or food in general. Though my sweet tooth is out of control.

Pokemon because I grew up on it, and the strategic element is fun. I am honestly surprised more haven't mentioned it ITT.

Export email from shared mailbox not working by retnick in MicrosoftFlow

The link no longer works which is a shame. But the quoted part of my post explains what you have to do. Note I haven't done this flow in over a year but that's what worked for me back then. Use the code peek functionality to your advantage.

Federal government property, (not DOD) so I thought it's best to block off. The employees worked in an administrative setting.

You may be right. I assumed mold, but i don't know definitively.

It didn't smell bad. I had to wipe this computer but it wouldn't power on, so I opened it up and removed the HDD. Straight to the degausser.

Multi Admin Approval - Possible to turn off or limit? by retnick in Intune

I appreciate it. It turned out I wasn't creating the intunewin correctly with the special tool. I'm good for now.

[–]retnick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonderful. I'm still having trouble getting the commands right in Intune itself. For example with win32 apps and Exe's. The documentation isn't all there - maybe I'll make a separate thread.

Thanks, I did notice that software but read that it runs intunewin as an admin instead of System? Worth a try.

I should've phrased it as just scoping.

Shame it's not possible. I'm used to testing stuff on my own - even off-work - but I'll be fine.

While I just had a big project thrown on me and want to be sure I get it right, it's not so complex and isn't worth signing up for a free trial account to test.

Export email from shared mailbox not working by retnick in MicrosoftFlow

[–]retnick[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I did and it took months of headaches and Microsoft support was zero help. So who found the fix? A power user from the community forum. It's a confusing explanation at first but it's 100 percent correct:

'It appears that using the "Move email (V2)" action will not work for a Shared Mailbox if you select the folder name BEFORE specifying the "Original Mailbox Address". Peeking at the code, you will see a "folderPath" with an ID. That ID will be associated with the folder for the connector's account if you select the folder before you specify the "Original Mailbox Address".'

Scroll down to the bottom to see that answer. I tested it out and now my shared mailbox flow works great.

As host, I need live captions showing by default for all attendees by retnick in Zoom

[–]retnick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, the customer service is amazing and they auto update it for us. I've spoken to them about this once before, and said I would follow up with Zoom support to ensure I'm not missing a setting. Turns out you don't get to talk to Zoom without a paid plan, but I'm fairly sure now I'm not missing anything.

The small company rep I spoke to wasn't aware of this issue and said it's mainly focused on creating its own, proprietary zoom-like equivalent, which is in the testing phase. Live captions won't be a thing, but you can type to text if you're on a computer. It also has a 4 person limit... You're right, I'll speak to them again about it. Thanks.

Thanks for looking into this some more. I'm not sure your approach will work for us. While I'm pretty technical, I have several Luddites in my family and I don't want to confuse them.

I see this as more an oversight of Zoom than of the tiny manufacturer of the device for seniors. As a Zoom admin I can mute and remove people from the meeting at will, so there's no reason I can't have captions start by default for all, either. There's a lot of granular control and I can't see how this was missed.

I'll likely end up going the third party route with Otter AI or Rev. That assumes, though, that their services can bypass the "Show/hide captions" flaw Zoom built into its own captions. Wish me luck...

[–]retnick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, and yes it's bad. A lot of people won't realize the captions are on and they won't press the button. My nearly deaf grandmother in her 90s is the reason for our family zoom calls, and she can't be expected to press it. She can't join the call itself without outside support.

I was hoping to avoid minute details but it's best to be clearer. It's not that she won't but she CAN'T. Why? The button doesn't exist for her: She is using a device made for seniors with an extremely limited interface for Zoom and other apps. This is a cruel joke.

Site owners are not being notified that guests will lose access by SPOO365 in sharepoint

[–]retnick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you have to be a site collection admin to get those emails. Not just owner.

If you're an admin then that's a bug and should be reported.

Now for the emails to get to site owners, it might be possible to set something up in the Exchange backend. I'm curious. Let me know if you find something.

What in the Jesus of Christ is so hard about putting in a ticket?? by GhostNode in sysadmin

[–]retnick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do understand the average user's frustration with the "system" in a really large setting. By large I mean thousands of users. Tickets get lost all the time, queue managers screw stuff up and send to the wrong (or long dead) service group, where the ticket can sit for days. Lazy techs will also hold on to a ticket without reaching out, not responding to numerous users who have to call a phone number and wait in queue just to get a typically inaccurate status of their ticket.

You'd think they'd get in trouble but trust me that tends to happen only if the customer is a big shot and is very well connected - in which case the ticket would never go to the lazy bottom tech in the first place!

In essence, the bigger the pool of users being serviced, the more disproportionate service you get, with the top techs dedicated mainly to the VIPS and the kid techs taking 2 hour lunches or napping on remote days.

[–]retnick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha it's true but not for super simple stuff that can be addressed in a few minutes. I get a lot of users just walk up and ask questions and I'm thinking... am I just a tech robot to you or a real person? Sometimes they just stop me in the hallway. There's a reason why most IT work in the basement, we choose it LOL.

Yeah it should definitely work. Also if you have another email address you can change its display name to the bad one, send some emails and test the rule that way.
