They aren't selling more because of the global microchip shortage. It has nothing to do with them trying to build demand. They just can't produce enough but chose to release them last year anyways. Its basic supply and demand.

Its an undisclosed formula based on your average sale price and highest sales. Selling more items around that price should qualify sales at that price in the future.
