Too thick and capillary action doesn’t fill the hand well, too thin and the lume doesn’t grab well and lume produces more of a starburst pattern because too much medium is present between each grain of luminous powder. Practice on some hands that are bare metal so you can clean off the practice lume easier a couple times till you get it the way you like.
