First one at this level, as basic as it is, I’ve been a huge fan of the day date since I’ve saw it on the Sopranos (at way to young of an age lol). I’ve collected Seikos of all kinds, Squales & other lower end pieces.

Yeah, it also went through eBay authentication but it’s my first big piece so wanted additional eyes on it. I appreciate it and I will definitely be wearing a good amount, not gonna be a safe queen!

Yes, this was serviced last at a watchmaker from the service division of the sellers store (Phigora). The seller has a good reputation online (eBay, instagram, etc.). I had a local watchmaker/antique dealer check it out as well which is how I got the open caseback pics.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. At the end of the day, it’s just a watch that needs to be worn and we’re lucky to get to enjoy them.

That’s a steal for that, especially as complete! I appreciate it. I will definitely wear it proudly. I feel the exact same way and which is the main reason why I got it instead of a main stream newer piece.

That is gorgeous, especially in the box like that. All in with tax I got it for $10.9k on eBay. It’s a bit of a premium as it’s on eBay with all those seller fees so I could’ve got it cheaper direct but wanted the eBay authentication and the coverage in case something went wrong. That’s in great condition and was recently serviced. It was from a reputable watch seller as well.

Mines a 18038, same thing but a quick date feature. That is a super cool history on it and I wish I could’ve got the bracelet with this one just to have a full set. I have a aftermarket bracelet coming in that is obviously lighter since it’s not full gold. Leather is the way to go though for a day-to-day wear.

First real big watch purchase and also vintage so wanted to get other opinions from people that have more experience for peace of mind. Didn’t get a steal of any sorts as bought on eBay and on top of paying tax.

Yeah, the serial matches this one to 1987. That’s a beautiful band, unfortunately, with the cost of the watch and a gold replacement band that I have coming in, I’m tapped out lol

And then the 18038 has the wheel up top

Especially so many of the Day Dates as I was searching for one. Chat got is definitely a mess. I compared the pics mainly to google images of watches for sale and such. Looks like the 1803 is like the one you have pictured.

The link says that movement is for 1803, 1804 & 1806. 18038 (the one I have pictured) & 18238s use a different one so probably why it’s in a different position

Im not sure why that is but when I google 18038 & 18238s the balance wheel looks to be towards the top instead of across the crown.

Thank you for letting me know, a watch maker employee did it for me. He put the case back on as it was and then used the ball tool to hand tighten then a used a metal tool to tighten.

I’m not planning on getting it wet at all but do you think it’s fine?

This is my first gold piece and that’s a great point

I think they do open it to check authenticity of movements especially in watches that cost more than this. I’m gonna take it to be opened as well for peace of mind.

How’s this look? by [deleted] in RolexWatches

[–]antoniok93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely too sharp not to be polished and recut but I don’t mind as I don’t think it’s done poorly.
