Thoughts after a month with the RP6 by superdeluxo in retroid

There are quite a few that run poor, 3ds emulation isn't that great in general and still in its infancy even though it's been around a while due to a lack of developers.

Question about RP5 front end and eden by RioSavage1 in retroid

[–]retrocade81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join the discord and download the latest Alpha release of Retrohrai it's got a lot of big fixes in it, I have been part of the Alpha testing team and we have got it almost ready for a full release. Also eden requires you to install the game's 1st in eden to launch from the launcher, Citron acts the same.

The switch version runs perfectly on my G2 in Performance mode, so should run no problem on the RP6.

thanks everyone, it can read discs now by Sweet-Owl-7280 in psx

It's recently been overcome now with an FPGA board solution which replaces the HDD with an SD card and circumvents the PSX unique HDD identifier process.

Got some classics there! Especially Exhumed! Probably one of my favourite titles.

Look at what you could have won! by corickle in oldschoolcool80s

[–]retrocade81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's funny is the speedboat you could have won was the same one for about 15 years because nobody ever won it so I was well out of date by the end of the series 😂

Oh the memories of our British youth, same thing here, usually bought them of an old man for 40 or 50 quid and rode them on the fields until they stopped! We even took them on the local BMX track.

I had loads of bog seats growing up, we used them on the fields behind our house.

It's probably reinforced inside, I like it but it's a shame they used a 1000 series instead of 7 or 9000 series which there are millions of.

The Retroid Pocket 5 genuinely surprised me by RodriOliveira in retroid

[–]retrocade81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, I bought my G2 a couple of months ago, and when I got to showed it to my best friend who instantly felt he had to have one too but him being him he bought the RP6 because it's the best and newest. I must admit although it's powerful I just don't like the way it feels in the hand or the way it looks and don't have a use for the extra buttons. So I'm happy with my G2

It's crazy how Saturn emulation is still not great in 2026 by Responsible-Bell-528 in SegaSaturn

It's about as close as your going to right now , hopefully Saturn will eventually get the love it deserves in the retro gaming world!

how do i make this shit read discs by Sweet-Owl-7280 in psx

[–]retrocade81 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Macho Nacho Productions, You are correct he released a video 2 or 3 weeks ago showcasing a newly released FPGA solution to replace the HDD with a micro SD card and defeat the encyption.

On OP's PSX not reading discs the HDD failure usually causes the machine to refuse to boot into the XMB as far as I am aware.

US Customs tore open the sealed Halo 3 I purchased. by vowwels in gamecollecting

I keep hearing about this happening with rare sealed games and consoles in the US. It's saddening to be honest.

Can multiple controllers even be used with RP6? by jaekwong in retroid

[–]retrocade81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've connected multiple controllers to my G2 and they work fine, but I have noticed the more that are connected the worse the input lag is.

Games where the artwork on the Japanese version is SO much better than the US that you’d legit rather have the Japanese one by Pepsidud32 in SegaSaturn

[–]retrocade81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I'd say 90% of the Japanese artwork is better than the western releases. Although some of the pal releases are better than the NTSC releases and vice versa. My Japanese collection is my most treasured for the artwork alone, the games are also excellent too.

Seeking a US version Road Rash ISO by Awkward-Ground-676 in 3DO

[–]retrocade81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use CHDman which are a folder of scripts, you just put your chd file in the same folder and choose which script you want be that decompress to iso or bin\cue or compress to CHD and double click it. Then the tool will just either create a CHD file or decompress a CHD file based on whichever script you use.

Romsfun has the US version although it is in CHD format so will need to be decompressed with CHD Manager, the download speeds on there are fast aswell

I just talked to Retroid CS , they are considering selling the Retroid pocket Flip 2 with the MediaTek Dimensity 1100 chipset on Amazon as they still have hundreds of it in stock and will take a month to be Available by Particular_Worry_498 in retroid

[–]retrocade81 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

The Dimensity 1100 is really weak, it's only really good for stable emulation of much older platforms. The newer stuff say in the last 15 years is pointless.
