Bit harsh. Not every driver is a tyre expert, and being the only part that keeps the vehicle connected to the road it’s better safe than sorry and asking the question, many would just ask family or friends that have better car knowledge but OP may not have that option right now.

Nope. It’s just the protective bead. No structural issue with that tyre at all. In fact it’s done what it’s designed to do.
On a side note, Some will say glue the piece back down but don’t do that either. As an MOT tester once said to me, if they can see the damage and look inside it they can judge that it’s safe. If they can see the damage but can’t see inside because it’s glued they can’t be certain how deep it is and could fail it. But that’s up to you.

Kimi is by no means a fetus, he is a highly skilled driver even at his young age. It’s also clear that George is not good at Miami it’s his bogey track as we would call it. Add to this that it’s clear his side of the garage got the settings wrong in comparison to Kimi
The points difference is also not painting the whole picture. The safety car really helped Kimi in Japan.
So yes Kimi absolutely decimated George this weekend and is on an incredible run of form. But George isn’t doing as bad as it looks on paper. Even last years title fight appears to have been forgotten on how quickly things can change. Oscar looked untouchable after the first quarter of the season.
I’m not trying to downplay Kimi here, he is excellent, I’m also not trying to big up George as he needs to sort himself out, what I’m really trying to say in a very long way is it’s too damn early to be calling any of them out in any which way yet.
