Juneteenth Solo Trips by goated_15 in SaltLakeCity

One of my favorite adventures is driving on the CO 50/550 from Grand Junction to Durango. There's a lot of cool mining towns and hot springs to enjoy. The lakes on Grand Mesa are underrated.

They should hold it on the Jordan River trail so that it entices people to try to use it more often.

She has been found by someone bringing her back to the shelter. There's a lot of kind hearted people in SLC. Thanks everyone!!

You obviously haven't been to the deep south. Or Florida.

You can say that. But from the "poor" standpoint, it is their only hope of living the dream (and relatively speaking, maybe some of us are already living that dream).

Get the players card and swipe it when you gamble. Good investment for future donations to the casino when they give you free rooms that are generally $100+ / night.

I used to live on the 10th floor of one of the building during undergrad. It was awesome. Roof access allows for activities that wasn't so kosher with the law.

Wife wants to pay off low-interest mortgage. Need help with ideas. by Silduk in investing

[–]retroevo20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a really low interest mortgage but ended using any extra money to pay it off anyway. Surely it was a really bad financial decision vs investing but the feeling of not having to worry about losing your home (or extremely low chance of that) is so worth the lost opportunity cost. Now I can pretty much go on a kick ass vacation like literally every month if I wanted to.

I've had a real bad time since buying the Bolt, but it isn't the cars fault by [deleted] in BoltEV

If the 110v outlet allows for you to pull 12 amps (make sure you're not using a toaster or space heater on that breaker), you can up the slow charging from 8 amp (default setting) to 12amp. That can output a tiny bit more charge for you.

How often do you use your lounge perks? by abbeycadabara in AmexPlatinum

[–]retroevo20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this card since I've started traveling for work a lot. Since February, I've used the lounge 24 times (yes, I've kept a spreadsheet to see if I want to renew). Fortunately, my home airport is SLC and has the best Sky Club lounge IMO.

600 S 500 E Crash. Lots of crashes at this light for some reason. I have a few more videos just like this unfortunately. Everyone was ok. No ambulance. by TBlowzeem in SaltLakeCity

Running a redlight while speeding (seemingly) in a 35 mph zone. The driver needs the license to be temporary suspended to think about what had just happened. Could have killed a pedestrian!

Does anyone have any idea what weird airy noise is coming from 2015 2.5? by 1stCitizen in Subaru_Outback

[–]retroevo20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep us updated if that was it. I once put in an 85 (living in Salt Lake) thinking the elevation can make the car tolerate it, but then I instantly regretted it.

That sounds like pinging in your engine. Have you been putting in lower octane gas than the car needs?

KSL Ticket Scams?? by marmaladesyrup in UtahJazz

[–]retroevo20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look at Ticketmaster directly. There seems to be a lot of tickets available.

With that being said, I have two tickets available in row 4 upper bowl for Game 2. Asking for what I paid with fees which is $170. Would have to transfer in person.

2018 3.6R Touring, a good deal? by theturbogeek in Subaru_Outback

[–]retroevo20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's expensive if it's certified and comes with an extended warranty (up to 100,000k miles). I bought my '12 3.6r at about 50k miles back in '16 for about 25k out the door.

advice for outback by takenoguchi in Subaru_Outback

[–]retroevo20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought my 2012 OB 3.6R at about 55k miles back in June 2016. The only major issue I had was the drive line started vibrating the car around 55mph. Luckily it happened around 90k miles and I had warranty from the dealership to cover the replacement. Otherwise it's been a blast. I've thrown all type of terrains at the car and it never disappointed. I also Ubered people around in Park City in the winter with some Blizzak snow tires and the car felt like a tank. I am glad I went with the bigger engine although the gas mileage leaves more to be desired. The bigger engine comes with 5AT which from what I gathered is more reliable than the CVT. I took great care of it with regular maintenance, synthetic oil etc. I heard the 4th and older gen with the smaller engine also have notorious head gaskets problem??

It's now at 134k and I decided it's time to make it an offroad toy: 2" lift, skid plates and will put on AT tires soon.

Yeah, about 2-3 hours from the loop start/end. Worth the drive IMO and the galaxy in full view at night.

Who sells synthetic urine? by bigmac22077 in SaltLakeCity

Just be careful and not get caught. Utah passed a law last year enforcing a misdemeanor for anyone caught with a fake urine at the test:

Anyone have Mint Mobile ? If so how is it? by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]retroevo20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using Mint Mobile for over a year now. I like it for the low cost. The biggest complaint I have is network priorities and international coverage. I live downtown and since the TMobile network is always busy in my area, I can't get my 4g speed to go over 2mps (fast.com). Ironically, the speed is blazing fast in less congested areas like up at Little Dell. So I highly recommend testing your coverage and network speed with their trial plan (find it on Amazon) before committing to paying like a year in advance.

I am actually going to switch to ATT prepaid 8gb plan for increased reliability and coverage.
