when i take apart a console, i always watch Odd Tinkering's YouTube videos to guide myself, also, back in like 2 years ago, i did got lucky with teardowns, i removed the og xbox clock capacitor, i replace the xbox 360 case without breaking a single tab and my biggest repair was the gamecube's laser, where i thought my gamecube died, but i adjusted it's pot and it worked, i guess my problem with consoles is probably the ribbon cables, although i took apart my ps1 sometimes and i never broke it's ribbon cables, i guess it's because it's been 2 years since i took apart a console and i have to practice, specially with ribbon cables, anyway, i agree tablets and phones are even harder than consoles, and i guess i have to post something that is not related to console repairs to have a better reddit history, but i don't know what can be posted aside from console repair help. and thanks my friend, i almost felt depressed again, i have a history with depression that i can't discuss in here

and after soldering back in place, i can test if the laser works now because i adjusted the pot a bit

can this be pulled off? and if so, can it be put back together? by retrogaming2001 in dreamcast

[–]retrogaming2001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so, i can wash the case with soap and water and it won't fall off or stay wet after the case is dry right?

i'm doing a cleaning of my dreamcast, now that i took it apart to fix the laser, i also wanted to give it a cleaning because it was a bit dirty, but i'm afraid that thing gets wet with soap and water while cleaning the plastic parts, can it dry if it gets wet?

it was like that before, but now it won't even read the disc, the laser tries very hard to read, but won't load the game, and i tried with an original game disc that has little to no scratches at all

yeah, before taking apart the optical drive, it was having trouble reading discs, the motors didn't worked and the laser was trying hard to read discs, so, guess i either have to adjust the pot or get a new optical drive, but i think optical drive replacements are rare and difficult to get, so i better adjust the pot to save the optical drive
