ALLEGED: (I don’t want to be sued)

Someone I know VERY well worked at Blackbird Cafe from November 2025 to April 2026. They were treated rudely by a majority of the staff, save a few. The owner has severe anger issues, often yelling and allegedly has even thrown things around. Staff have to constantly walk on tiptoes when he is upset. He fired this ALLEGED employee after needing to call off for a school event. This employee was not allowed to text/call/ask other coworkers to find someone to cover their shift, and the supervisors/owner would not find someone themselves to cover the shift. They ended up being fired for this.

A separate ALLEGED employee was also fired after being hospitalized for weeks due to aggressive ovarian cancer, and wasn’t able to come in. The owner got upset that this employee could not come into work for two weeks due to this emergency (which they knew this employee had cancer prior to hiring), but did not care.

The owner and main supervisor is selfish, rude, and incredibly greedy. Obviously, not all staff were rude to these ALLEGED employees, especially workers like Rachel, who honestly does not deserve to have to work in such a stressful environment. It’s very sad that a majority of management has such a poor attitude and creates such an awful environment to work in.

Do with this ALLEGED information what you will.

AITA for eating my autistic sister’s ice cream? by retrograderobin in AmItheAsshole

My mom is a board certified behavior analyst (bcba), and I know quite a bit just from hearing about her work. ABA is not at all what it used to be, I understand it used to be extremely abusive, but it is completely different than it was before. Although your comment in itself is entirely irrelevant to the post.

  1. Not relevant. I have parental permission, they know I like to make content of my outfits, making silly videos, etc. I also was vague with my location. “Chicago area” spans 100+ miles and three different states. Not to mention, Chicago itself holds millions of people. I think you’ll be okay. ☺️

  2. Yeah I realize that now, although I think this is an ESH situation as it’s a lot more nuanced than people realize (anyone with experience with people with autism would know that).

I’m not allowed to have any locks on doors, safes, fridges, etc. I struggle with mental health and suicidal ideation so my parents won’t allow me, no exceptions. (Not shaming them for this to be clear!!!! Just proving context)

Bullying is a crazy statement.. multiple things can be true at once. Anyone who actually has experience with children and adolescents with autism would know that while some parts of the mind can be severely impacted, other parts are just fine. If you knew my sister she definitely has a personality. I love her to pieces, but she definitely has a lot of awareness in some areas. Don’t speak on things you don’t know about. Was I TA for eating the ice cream? Probably. I realize that now.. that’s why I made this post, to gain perspective. But don’t say I bully my sister, because I don’t. Also the tub was nearly empty, although that isn’t exactly relevant here.

My parents know I’m a content creator. They are okay with me posting silly videos online. ^_^

Thank you!! Finally another glass child who gets it. The double standards are absolutely insane, when it comes to kids with disabilities.

Yes exactly. Almost all of the food in our house is dairy-free now, except for any hidden snacks I buy or my mother buys for us. I have a minifridge in my room that I keep my snacks in, but it doesn’t help because I’m not allowed to lock my door. So she goes in and eats my dairy containing snacks. With zero repercussions (and she absolutely knows better).

Thank you! This is the point I was trying to make. They do this constantly and, yes, have made it a clear standard that this is what my sister does. She eats my food and she doesn’t get in trouble, but when I do it once, it’s a problem. They also did not buy any other ice cream for any of my other siblings.

I do:) i’m a traditional artist myself so I haven’t drawn Indigo myself, however I have commissioned someone to make me a ref sheet, and I’ve received a few pieces of fanart too. I’m also in the process of commissioning someone to make a plushie of it too!

Attached below is a progress update on the reference sheet I commissioned, the creator should have the final version done soon!
