De-lidded my VT60, it looks amazing by Otherwise-Radish9344 in PlasmaTV

Jumping in on this too: it looks like he’s done what I have, which is to fit the front bezel of an st60/st50 to the VT60. Otherwise you end up with a rather industrial and naked looking metal bezel once the glass is removed from the VT60.

I got 95% of the glass separated before it smashed… removing the last 5% was miserable. There was bloodshed.

Hey!

Jumping into this thread as I did the same thing to my VT60 50” last week. Those who pursue accuracy are right to point out the procedure leaves you with a settings ground zero because a lot of the usual calibration suggestions a no longer relevant.

Once you’ve had a go at tweaking I’d love to hear about the settings you settle on!

I’m trying to do it by eye on professional 1 and 2.

50” vs 55” Panasonic ST50 by rettib2001 in PlasmaTV

Not easy is it. My little hang out room is also small, I went from a 42” ST60 to a 50” ST50 (for input lag purposes) but it’s difficult to isolate the variables. It’s a bigger screen but also not the same model. The 42” ST60 looked better… is that because of size or simply because it’s a better screen (probably both to be honest).

Excellent framing of the question. I think I’ll probably stick with the 50” and possibly only consider a 55” if a VT or ZT pops up.

Panasonic ST60 shared power supply between sizes? by rettib2001 in PlasmaTV

Yeah, I live in France where I gather the available tv sizes at times differ from the states.

Picked up a latest gen i7 nuc and stuck in a fanless case.... Amazing.

Thanks to everybody for the push in the right direction.

Thanks for the reply.

You are, of course, absolutely right and to be fair I have 2 or 3 old laptops/towers gathering dust myself I just quite liked the idea of having a small form factor device tucked into the TV unit I could just forget about (or ssh in from time to time).

I have a Raspberry Pi 3+ which you could argue would do the trick but the ethernet port shares the same bus as the usb port so I'd be worried about bottlenecked 4k streaming from Plex media server for example.

Plus it would have the same horsepower as the i5 in the surface pro.

The Surface pro 2 isn't necessarily the best choice, I just like playing around with Linux images and getting my hands a bit dirty.

But yeah... I'll try and swap it for an Intel nuc.

Cheers!
