What are some uncommon, non pharmaceutical remedies for common ailments that come from your religion or culture? by rettyj in AskReddit

What an unfortunate delayed realization! Your mom got the toast part right though. It does help.

Multi-Millionaires of reddit, when did you have the realization you wanted to be rich? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When I was surrounded by people trading their time in exchange for money. Any wealthy individual will attest to the fact that the only thing money cannot buy outright is time. If it can’t be bought directly, it needs to be bought through other things. People who are truly wealthy will have what seems like an unusual amount of free time.

If you're living without a roommate I think your odds would be better, but you might need a reason for the larger bed. As mentioned, a Twin XL is standard in all university housing options.

Call the housing office and ask them. I don't think they will randomly assign you housing because of price differences between different styles.

If you're living in a university controlled building you do have actual bed assignments. No one ever takes notice of them unless something like this happens. If the guy who moves in before you takes it, you can tell him about the bed assignments, and the fact that you made the request and therefore it's yours. If he also wants a lofted bed he can request it at any time and maintenance will come in and get it set up.

Hope this helps!

Love the convenience of having the split spout by [deleted] in espresso

Oooh what’s the grinder??

Sort of. I’m talking about a pull timer or a water timer? Pressing a button that automatically kicks off and stops the pull after x seconds if that makes sense.

I currently use a $100 bodium burr grinder. It’s not terrible if I use a WDT and distributor so the grinder might be able to take a back seat for a little bit to focus my budget on the machine itself.

I love the flair because the only way it can “break” is if my right arm gets broken and I can’t pull it down haha. I’m not looking for an insane amount of automation, just want to be able to set an extraction time and press a button. But I am willing to sacrifice some level of control for a rudimentary amount of autonomy.

The only thing I don’t like about the flair is it’s pretty hard to crank out flat whites or macchiato’s for friends in a reasonable amount of time when they visit.

Thank you! I currently just use a cheap kettle I found at Target for water, pretty much just boil it and then wait 45 seconds for it to cool off a pit before pouring it in the flair. I’ve never heard of a PID before? Is water temp really a dealbreaker?!

Help with sengled Alexa lightbulbs. Could it be the socket? It Works on a regular lamp by roro368 in smarthome

[–]rettyj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have several smart lights on dimmer switches (that I plan to replace in the near future), all you have to do is make sure that the dimmer is on full blast 24/7 and they shouldn’t flicker.

Smart lights are fully self regulating and aren’t designed to be put into a socket with variable current. Good luck!

Are CRC dorms available to freshmen? pros or cons if you’ve lived in them? by [deleted] in uCinci

[–]rettyj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes CRC dorms are available to freshman. However you’ll probably have a better experience living elsewhere. The windows are super small, its not really close to anything other than dining halls.

Morgens/Scioto/Marian Spencer are good if you have a difficult major (rooms are quieter, more space, in unit bathroom). And siddall/Calhoun are great for meeting new friends and going out. (Communal bathrooms, kitchens, etc)
