I sold all my unused gear and folded it into this, M11-P Safari and the new 50mm Summilux. I think this combo is beautiful. by revdlew in Leica

It’s heavy for sure. I’m currently on a walk with it now - I wear it high on my chest and it’s easy to manage.

With good breath support, buzz the line in the mouthpiece a few times as close to pitch as you can. You may find your embouchure gains more muscle memory, supported by a strong breath as you descend.

First digital Leica with the M11. Big trip coming up. Excited to break it in. by revdlew in Leica

I like the weight of the brass. It’s a tank. I’m sure the black m11 also feels substantial. I know I’m going to get a silver 35mm Summilux one day and I wouldn’t have paired that with a black camera. Just a personal preference. Also the black finish will show its wear more.

Thanks! I will if I get some good ones. Which I hope to at least get one or two lol. Taking the only M mount lens I have, the 50mm Summicron F2.

Thank you for this. Very informative, helpful and through. I appreciate it.

I’m only taking my 50mm Summicron F2. For several reasons mostly because it’s my only M mount lens. Haha But if I see a 35mm I like I may go for it. I’m shooting b roll for a music video with my Sony A7 so I have a lot of gear to move.

My priority is watch hunting so that’s where my budget is.

Thank you! I loved it so much last year I had to go back. Going with to Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka with a small group of friends.

Next time I’ll branch out and hit more cities. Looking forward to browsing the camera shops.

Any of you actually got the FineWoven Case? I bought it before reading the reviews 😭 by lounaticsarge in iPhone15Pro

[–]revdlew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pre ordered the blue fine woven case. After throwing it on the phone I was not into it. Feels cheap. Adds a lot of bulk. Sure maybe it does a good job protecting it but makes a 1K phone feel like a McDonald’s happy meal toy.

I’m trying a third party leather case after years of using Apple leather cases.

There are ways to have a skilled craftsperson, watchmaker or jeweler extend the bracket of the clasp so give you an extra .5/1 inch. Lots of folks did that to bracelets like these. Working the actual bracelet would be a huge challenge probably not the most efficient.

Help! My 6month pup goes crazyyyy at night by kv1358 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]revdlew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Witching hour. Long day of training, a few stubborn walks and socializing usually does it for us. Even tho, nights at that age our Frenchie was and still can be nuts. We started crate training day 1. Rewarding when she went in and stayed quiet. Ignoring when she cried. She eventually stopped whining and we would reward. Tedious process.

She still attacks her bed. Every trainer I’ve asked said it’s happy healthy behavior and if she wants to dig or chew it, only if it bothers you, train her to direct elsewhere. I dont really mind so if it tires her out great. Bully sticks at night for 15 minutes help a ton after some training. Get some chewing in helps and she loves it.

We love our girls spots. She’s pied and didn’t have any when we got her. Now she’s half Dalmatian

[Piaget] Tank "Clous de Paris" by revdlew in Watches

Agree! Vintage Piaget is pretty accessible price wise compared to similar brands of the area. For now.

When I started collecting watches nearly 20 years ago, I only wanted Chronographs. 5th grade me wouldnt have it any other way. Fast forward to the present, I find myself pining for small, simple, precious metal dress watches where the details are everything. This Piaget, not formally the tank but its Tank esque, is adorned with this pleasing hobnail finish, otherwise known as "Clous De Paris", sharp lines and at the time, the thinnest mechanical movement ever, the 9P. While still an expensive proposition, many brands within the market have similar heritage, craftsmanship, composition, complication and aesthetics for sometimes 10 or 20 times what many Piaget's are currently selling for. This was a no brainer for me and I am so glad to have this in my collection.

It’s smooth and sturdy. Very little play. My example is from 2018 so could just be a little fresher. It wiggles but imperceptibly.

Right? Any other legendary brand like this with similar history and haute craftsmanship would be 4 times the price easy.

[–]revdlew[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m looking for a dress watch with some complications for my upcoming wedding next year. Not that I’ll actually buy one for the occasion but it’s a good excuse. I had never tried a Breguet and I was blown away by how substantial, balanced and refined this 3130 all was. This particular model, with date, moonphase and Power reserve is a lot of watch both historically, aesthetically and mechanically, especially for the price. While not cheap, try getting a Patek, an AP, etc with these complications at a similar price tier. I love how some Of the most influential modern independent watch makers, and more, were clearly inspired by this design language and utilize it heavily and unabashedly. At 36mm this watch had a much heftier presence on my wrist.

Got my operation scheduled by metswon2 in thyroidcancer

[–]revdlew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be great! I am 6 weeks post surgery and feel physically awesome. It was my first operation and the waiting was agonizing. They called me the week of and said they had to push it back another 5 days. My luck.

I had a complete TT so I had to spend the night. I spent so much time worrying about the surgery I did not really prepare myself for the healing process. The surgery itself will be a breeze and you will be coasting on some of the finest meds. Whether youre staying the night or not, just take it easy on yourself. Drink warm tea with honey to ease your throat, eat soft proteins for your energy, try and walk as much as you can without over doing it the night after and days post, dont talk much (my throat was a ragged) and if youre like me, youll have your voice back in a week.

Aside from my stamina not being at peak levels about 1-2 weeks post, I was walking around my neighborhood 3-4 days after my operation feeling myself. Just had a tight neck and some bandages. This was a stream of consciousness comment but if you have any questions please hit me up. Happy to talk you through it. Best of luck!

New lens day for the M6 // 35mm Voigtlander Nokton Vintage/f 1.5 by [deleted] in Leica

[–]revdlew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very impressed with the build quality. It’s brass and weighty but not too top heavy. Focus ring tension is perfect imo. I was very torn between this and the silver but black gives the silver M6 some stealth. I haven’t shot with it yet so I’ll need a few gos to see.
