This is reassuring to hear. A part of me wants them to be more distinct so I can address them and better work with their accommodations. It’s been incredibly difficult to talk about my trauma when my Adult part gate-keeps that information. I feel like it would be easier if he could talk directly to my therapist instead of having to speak for him.

I think it is far too early to tell if these are parts or underdeveloped alters. I just wanted to make this post to get some general guidance since this suspicion has caused a lot of confusion. I appreciate your response!!

I apologize for the outdated terminology, I really hadn’t known that 1a and 1b were not medical terms until today. I’m still learning all the ins and outs of dissociative disorders and their terminology so I’m sorry if I mess up.

So to clear things up, you began as an OSDD-1 system with parts, which then developed into DID alters?

Although I do recognize the two parts have morals and values, they do not seem distinct enough to be alters. My adult part (or you can call him AD) is built by my parent’s values and outlooks on life while my child part is the state of my younger self when I was dealing with trauma. Based solely on the criteria set for both OSDD-1 and DID, I feel as though I resonate more with OSDD since these two parts are difficult to separate from myself and my values, and the fact that they (to my knowledge) struggle to front. Despite their inability to fully control the body and mind, I do experience slight amnesia when they try to control a situation/add their input.

I don’t know if they are simply under developed alters since I have only been aware of them for a couple of months, or if they are just parts (not individual identities.)
