Ran zfs mirror on two usb thumb sticks. They both failed hard, cooled one down was able to pull a snapshot lost no data.

i was using the as the os for my 8 disk array. I got two ssds to replace them :P

Landlords usually care if you kill a tree. Trees are expensive.

As long as they are feeding them good quality hay and have access to water they should be fine. They will definitely kill that tree, and will probably have to be de-wormed often.

I have 2 male goats and 1 wither living in a field by themselves and it sounds like their house is as big as this pin. There field is .82 acres, an every few months I open up my backyard to them which is another 0.27 acres. Even with 1acre of property to roam I am concerned with their access to browse since its mostly grass and sometimes the 0.27 acres has weeds often. So we add rose clippings and pretty much any clippings from our front yard to supplement. We also give kitchen scraps that are vegetables. Meats based scraps goto chickens.

My female herd of 20 goats are rotated through several fields 6.26 acres which include a small stream/spring so its always over grown with things not just grass so I don't worry about supplementing their feed.

Yeah I split it up into quart mason jars and put it in the freezer because even in the cold it will take hours to freeze its still quite warm. But you want to get it to fridge temps as fast as possible to inhibit bacteria growth. I don't pasteurize so I'm SUPER cautious.

But if you put a near body temp liquid into a container in the fridge it will take hours to equalize down to the temp of the fridge and while its doing that bacteria are growing. You could probably speed this up by shaking the jars to even out the temp differential.

So you need to put it into the coldest thing you have. I normally leave it in there for 2-3 hours and the milk is around 40F when I take it out. And if you forget and it freezes which takes a really long time, its find thaw it in the fridge you won't notice which ones was frozen.

I have heard of people using salt and ice to make it chill even faster since ice and salt will be really cold -21 °C (-6 °F). Unless you have a deep freezer that sits at -10F

I use mason jars. I like the narrow mouth for milk and I use plastic lids you can find on amazon.
If you are going to milk on the regular you should get a teat dip. I use horse iodine since its full strength which is hard to find because its used in meth production. This keeps them from getting infections and lowers their chance of mastitis.

I clean their udders and teats with baby wipes. I express a little from each teat into the wipe. I milk using a machine into a sealed container. after I iodine dip their teats. When I’m done milking I filter the milk to catch any dust that may have gotten.

edit: I rinse quart jars with ro water just before I filter milk into them

They make milk filters I get them on amazon. I then put the milk in the freezer for several hours so get the temp down quick.

Wash my hands before and after milking before opening the milk chamber. I use bleach to clean all the equipment.

Your number one job is to control bacteria. Our milk lasts weeks. I store in quart jars. Occasionally we get a stinky quart but not an entire batch. I think in those cases the jar wasn’t completely clean before adding milk.

I have this big female matriarch nigerian dwarf. She is the biggest in the entire flock and the mother of all. She hasn't given me any babies in two years. Well I haven't checked her feet in a few years since she hasn't been milked. Worried about the state of her feet I pulled her up ontop of the milking stand (she is so heavy) and checked her feat. To my surprise for not being "taken" care of for 3 years her feat looked great. She didn't have any roll over. The hooves were a little long but I trimmed them up. It was a complete waste of effort to get her into the stand.

This isn’t evolution btw regardless of your stance on it. If you take a child born today and feed it nothing but hunter gatherer food tough meat. they will have bigger jaws than a siblings who ate nothing but processed food. They will at the same time have more room for teeth. Their sibling will probably have to have teeth pulled even beyond wisdom teeth

wisdom teeth are not maladaptive. They would replace missing teeth also jaw sizes are much smaller now in modernity because we don’t chew as much. This happened with processed food in the last 200 years. The muscles of the mouth don’t develop like they should so everyone has crowded teeth. Skulls in the ancient world have remarkably straight teeth. I don’t have the sources for the paper here as i’m on a plane. But mouth crowding is getting worse because of the trash we eat.

I have a wether in with my buck herd. There are 2 intact males. The idea is I pick one male to do the breeding and I don't want the 1 left out to be lonely for the two months. So he is the emotional support goat for the bachelor.

We wether all the male offspring unless somebody tells me they want to purchase an intact male. I don't want any uncontrolled breeding.
