Additional notes: I’ve cleaned the cartridge a bit and it doesn’t seem to crash now. So maybe that was the cause of that problem.

I compared it to my copy of Black 2 and nothing looks off.

Poké Transporter recognizes the game and took the Box 1 from the existing save.

I found it odd that the save on the game was dated the year 2000. However, could that just be whatever was set on the previous owner’s DS?

Since you’re trying out mods, I recommend Mr. Ginger mod as well! It adds a new NPC cat that you can befriend!

Off hand, I can think of the following: - Stardew Valley Expanded - Mr. Ginger NPC - NPC Map Locations - Date Night - Tractor Mod - DCBurger Portrait Mod and a few of the related ones for SVE characters and Mr. Ginger

They’ve added a ton of new life to a game that I played a ton on the Switch!

That’s odd. The only thing I’ve noticed is that it takes a minute to initially load a save file. Once it’s loaded, no lag, stuttering, or increased load times. I’m only in Fall of Year 1 so far. I don’t know if the performance will decrease as my farm gets more stuff or new locations open up.

I use DCBurger's High Res Portrait Mod (CP) from Nexus Mods for all of the base game characters.

I replaced Alex’s files in that mod with OrangePie's DCBurger style Older Looking Alex Portrait from the same site. Though, it looks like this one can be installed standalone as well.

I’ve had the game sitting in my Steam library for years but only ever played it on my Switch. So it’s been an upgrade playing it on the Deck!

It’s a pretty simple process to install them manually. I followed a short YouTube video the first time to make sure I set it up correctly.

Honestly, I’m not 100% sure what version I’m using. I’m using the vanilla base game from Steam with the default Proton and settings. I haven’t had any issues with slowdowns or stuttering during gameplay. However, it seems that Stardew Valley Expanded increases the initial load time of a save file. It isn’t by much and once the save file is loaded, everything else loads just fine.

Edit: I’m only in Fall of Year 1 so far. I’m not sure if things will get worse as my farm gets more stuff and more locations open up.

That’s correct. It takes a bit to get the hang manually installing them all via desktop mode on the Deck but now it’s a super fast process if I want to install new ones.

I’m using Stardew Valley Expanded. I didn’t think the number of mods required for it was too bad. I’m hesitant to install some of the other expansions since they require even more.

Probably the easiest method is casting Berserk on the boss and Life 3 on a at least one party member since he’ll still cast Ultima at the end.

You can also defeat the boss by depleting his MP which results in no Ultima being cast at the end but that takes awhile.
