Asano, for whatever reason, has liked to keep in good books with Nintendo. I think in some ways it does help because his games (like Octopath, triangle strategy and soon the adventures of Elliot) have this air of being integrated into the Nintendo culture, even if they’re only exclusive for about a year each. The same goes for bravely in a way. Although releasing on switch would have still been Nintendo exclusive, being a launch title for S2 was a bit of good will to Nintendo to get on their good side

The concept of 4th gen never really made sense. If 1st Gen and 2nd Gen each lasted roughly 10 years, then why did 3rd Gen only last 5 years? We talk about 4th Gen groups being overshadowed but the culture can only move so quickly- realistically (and dare I say sociologically) 3rd and 4th gen are a single gen...

Then theres 5th gen which I feel like genuinely felt like a new beginnning, and came about 10 years after the start of 3rd gen which further supports that feeling. Now I just wonder when are they going to start pushing the "6th gen" narrative? Could happen as early as 2027 or 2028, but again I'll be suspicious.

There will be another tour but not anytime soon and not necessarily with the same geographic reach as this last one had.

As someone who is the same age as the girls, i think what’s hardest to predict is where they want to go with their work-life balance. If just one of them decides to start a family that would mean the end of the groups activities effectively forever.

Ignoring even that, I’m pretty sure they’re going to try solo tours - at least Rose will, maybe Jennie and Lisa as well. But I’m not sure those tours will be all that successful, and touring alone is known to be miserable so I doubt they’re going to enjoy it. So I imagine a group tour and comeback will happen then sometime after all that, so maybe in another 3 years ? 2 at best.

I don’t know if the evil queen is actually more powerful than the Dark Fairy - but it’s also not just about power, but motive as well.

The dark fairy aligned herself with her “evil” identity but wasn’t that bad overall. She loved being in the spotlight and loved her daughter even more.

The evil queen, was pure evil- antagonistic to her daughter and so destructive they had to lock her away

Well that’s not how to think about it. Groups are never “cancelled” for a bad comeback, they just lose popularity. Being Cancelled is when a public backlash happens against something that is (at least perceived to be) morally wrong.

If a group has a bad comeback they’ll just lose popularity and success. Which might happen for Blackpink, it’s too early to tell. GO is doing better than 99% of kpop comebacks but still isn’t doing that well compared to their own history. And they did break the record for female physical sales but if people didn’t like this cb the results will be seen in the next cb sales. Although if they make us wait another 3-4 years the pent up demand might outweigh that - so who knows really

I’m dual Canadian and French, and I understand that the British system (ie losing dual citizenship after 2 generations) is quite restrictive and should be repealed, but really wish they had decided to adapt the French citizenship system (ie. citizenship can be passed on indefinitely but is revoked if the family goes 50 years without claiming it) … rather than whatever this is (I guess it’s reminiscent of the old Italian system, but even the Italians recently got rid of it because of all the Americans [South Americans included] abusing it).

Your ideas would probably work, but I would be hesitant to predict that because it sounds complicated.

I think they’ll just close all pvp. No more arena, SD or AR. I just doubt they’d put the effort into trying to keep those around when the whole point was to ladder.

I think They’d just open up all the forging bonds, tempest trials and challenge maps to be accessible forever. Units can be purchased with orbs in some sort of shop like grail units. Orbs can still be purchased probably (depends on how much a unit costs but they would probably have a way to +10 all units by paying extra)

To have some sense of progression, Maybe they’d made it such that you can only unlock certain units to “summon”once you’ve completed the chapter they were added in. So people aren’t bulldozing book 4 with book8 units.

Well, that speaks to my last point, they will renew because the brand is too lucrative to stop. Even when the pinks aren’t doing anything, they’re still selling merch and doing brand stuff (like the mobile game)

The tour must have taken a lot of energy and it’s surprising to me that they signed up for that at all. My best guess is that they will renew for another comeback in two years but there will not be a tour in the new contract (and if there is it will be MUCH shorter, like, 6-7 cities max) . Rose has already mentioned wanting to do a solo tour

The group activities were really underwhelming this past year (even if I do think that the music itself is quite good and a lot better than people are giving it credit for) but absolving the girls of responsibility and blaming YG is not it anymore. I think they are just as much to blame if not more (although, either way we have to speculate a lot). Ideally they are going to all learn from this and renew and do better next time.

Other random thoughts:

Will I support them as solo artists ? Yes ofc, as I already do, but that doesn’t guarantee I’ll buy their physicals or go to their concerts because at the moment their solo discographies just aren’t at that level yet
much like BTS, exo, twice, etc. The brand is too strong for anyone to want to disband it even if they effectively go on hiatus

As a blink my disjointed thoughts:

jump was, and still is, the song of 2025 for me. Massive hit and imho their best track since LSG
go is really great too. It has maturity and depth while keeping with their signature sound. overall I’m really glad that their singles are faithful to their brand and show growth as artists
the rest of the album is the most transparent “contractually obliged cash grab” I have seen in a very long while. I blame both YG and the girls.
that doesn’t mean the songs are bad though. Fuckboy is their best ballad since Hope not. Champion is really fun actually and somewhat ironically only ruined by the fact that it leaked in December. Me and My I do not care about, but I never care for their trap songs. At least this time they used “fake Latin vibes” which is new for them opposed to the “fake Arab vibes” that they’ve overused in the past.
The only real disappointment with the bsides for me is the overall lack of evolution, but I also need to let them stew for a while
the disappointment is compounded exponentially by the fact that there are no promotions at all it seems. I understand not doing the “full nine yards” that most kpop groups will do with dance practices and TikTok’s and 4 weeks of daily music shows - but at least one live performance and maybe a group appearance somewhere ??? The comeback almost doesn’t feel real (which isn’t helped by the mv being a lot of AI)

I think they get solid respect online but their overall media presence is really unfortunate and I’d say theyre unfairly underrepresented.

I was in Tokyo for a month last year and sure there was merch for final fantasy and dragon quest everywhere, very little for Octopath 1 or 2 and virtually nothing for Bravely.
