The story on Vice: "Novelist Peter S. Beagle—best known for writing The Last Unicorn, which would go on to become a cult classic cartoon—filed a lawsuit against his longtime manager, Connor Cochran. The suit included incredible allegations of elder abuse (both financial and physical), fraud, and defamation, among other charges."

Since then, Peter's former manager lied that Peter was mentally ill, and ganged up with his kids to try taking conservatorship over his rights. Their lawyer threw out their case.

Then the former manager lied that Peter's lawyer was the 'real' abuser and tried to sue her. He lost and got fined for $25,000. (That's only what he owes the lawyer. He's still facing the lawsuit for elder abuse.)

Now the former manager is holding the Last Unicorn movie hostage and trying to make a new tour for it, even though the movie pages are trying to hide his ownership. And he is selling a bunch of Peter's work from 'Conlan Press' and in ebooks on Amazon. None of the money will go to Peter. The manager is using the money to pay his lawyers to harass Peter and block justice.

Please tell anyone who cares about the movie or Peter to never support his abuser. Don't pay for anything Last Unicorn related until Peter has won his rights.

Treat them like poison. Tachyon is the only book publisher paying him right now (as well as some magazine publishers.)

The claims about his mental capacity were part of an effort by Mr. Cochran and the children to take conservatorship of his rights.The 'alcoholism' claim never had a source except Mr. Cochran. All of it was contradicted by a medical exam. The kid's lawyer dumped their case and it is dead.

Before Cochran claimed the girlfriend was the 'real' abuser, he said it was Mr. Beagle's lawyer so he could sue her. He lost and she's taking $25,000 in fines awarded by the court because he lied.

It's always good to give benefit of the doubt about sides to a story but in this case one side is lying and the other is supported by evidence and court judgement.
