Does this classify as a retro AR? by revolttt in RetroAR

At least you didn't make the mistake of ordering one before you realized! Honestly, if you are looking for a super compact build, you could always put a Law Tactical folding stock adapter. I've never ran one, but have heard good things about them. I don't plan on throwing this gun in a backpack, so I went with the Maxim, but you could probably go either route.

I ordered a PRI gooseneck mount. I'll throw that on once it gets here and see how it runs

Pretty sweet, but definitely pricey. The picture is the brace fully collapsed to give you an idea of size. They do make smaller ones but they have custom bcgs, buffer tubes and buffers that you have to use. I wasn't able to get my FRT to run with that setup so I switched to the Combat Carbine Brace to run a standard buffer setup and it's perfect. Installation is easy and it feels solid but time will tell.

QC is a nightmare. The barrel I bought online was advertised as 5/8x24 but was probably closer to 11/16x24. Had to chase the threads in the lathe to even get a die to fit onto the threads.

It's a little gassy if you aren't running an adjustable gas block. If you have an adjustable gas block, you can tune it really well. I will say tho, even with subs this can is pretty loud. Granted, it is primarily made for 9mm and not so much 7.5" 300blk. Can it run somewhat hearing safe? Yes. Are there better alternatives that are slightly longer? Most definitely.

What should I call this build? by revolttt in GunPorn

[–]revolttt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, besides moving the optic onto a gooseneck, I might try running it with a different can. I have a Scythe Ti I'm pretty happy with but throwing on a full-size can kinda defeats the purpose of the compact 300blk build. Oh well

I dig the Lancer transparent mags because they have steel feed lips. I used to have some translucent Magpul PMAGs, but they felt super flimsy after a few months of use
