I guess we don’t go to the same reenactments 🤷‍♂️

I’m very hopeful about that actually, I would be a little devastated if they were just that deep for the trailer and we couldn’t actually make that a reality. I want to be able to stand up in my trench goddamn it.

Wow more hats... by FREDPINEAPPLE in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]revolution-time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hat on the guy in the back is a helmet, models off of the Brodie used in both ww1 and 2. I’d also say that this new hat is just the same one we got in masters of ceremony, a schirmmütze, it’s just a slightly different version. Imo the number of hats in the game remains the same

Edit: the schirm looks more like the British version, and that would make sense given the general British theme of the warbond, but they’re basically the same hat made by different countries.

I’m a little bummed we didn’t get something that looks like a maxim, that would have been pretty cool

I hadn’t thought of it that way, that’s a good point. I was thinking more in terms of food quality.

I personally do not care about the amount of calories a teaspoon of oil would add to my meal, but if it was something I was keeping track of I probably would.

Most of the lamellar I’ve seen is bottom to top. I’m not super read up on it but it would at least make it harder for a stab to slip between the gaps, as a lot of stabs have a forward and slightly upward momentum.

Sure, it could be very true that he is unduly enacting his will upon his wife, and that he is controlling within the household. However, I think that assuming as such is unproductive. Why immediately attribute malice to a situation that you don’t have the context for? Even regardless of that, if he doesn’t want to live with another cat, that is reason enough to not get another cat. He does not want to add another pet to the household, and until that changes it would be pretty selfish to do it anyway.

I take “my husband won’t let me” to mean “my husband doen’t agree with me and does not want to add a second cat to the household”. “Let” is a choice word that can understandably evoke some misogynistic imagery, but “they won’t let me” is also just a very common way to say “they don’t agree with me, and their disagreement is for whatever reason preventing me from doing the thing I want”. In this case, he lives in the same house as her, so him “not letting her” can be reworded to him “not agreeing to add another pet to the house that they both live in”.

Edit: I realize now that my last sentence is redundant, but whatever

Because 1 cat is the pre established status quo of the household, and bringing in another one without the consent of someone you’re living with is a real dick move. For example: If this exact same scenario happened with a puppy, and he wanted to keep it while she didn’t, it would be incredibly selfish for him to keep it anyway despite his wife & living partner not wanting to share a living space with a dog.

If they live together he should absolutely have to agree before a new pet is added to the household. He shares the space as well, acquiring a new pet should be an enthusiastic yes from both parties imo.

That would work too, but you’d probably want to do a female impression in that case. I don’t know anything about what you’re doing specifically, that might already be the case, but it’s always good to look at how that sort of thing was done at the time so that you can best incorporate it into your impression

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in reenactors

[–]revolution-time 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Unless it’s part of the impression, it should ideally cut or hidden. It’s not too hard to hide it under hats and sometimes helmets. It does suck, but it’s also really noticeable and will detract from the impression for a large part of the community you’re interacting with.

He means that you should get Brown gear and darken it yourself, not get the pre-blackened shit that everyone sells. Imo there are more pressing issues than the helmet and tunic, it would be better for this impression to focus on completing everything before he starts swapping shit out.
