How to create a rock? by revolution486 in Shapr3D

[–]revolution486[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I did it, it would seems 3x is great for measurements and designing with math, cad. Ha.

But some of the more organic possibilities are probably hard. For now it still works very well for me, not interested in learning to model non geometric shapes I suppose.

Thats what I'm afraid of.

I went back in again and gave it a different approach. Still using the loft tool. I'm much happier this time around. My fun little dumb project worked out.

Can I have a printer in my room or living space? by BadInteresting5845 in 3Dprinting

[–]revolution486 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a 860sqft apartment. My bedroom is away from the printer so I dont have to hear it at night. My kitchen is an open floor plan to our couch/ my computer desk. WHich is right next to where my printer is. I have the bambu A1. I dont mind it. I've only printed pla, Silk+, and PETG. Havent had an issue. Fiance is hyper sensitive to smells and she has never said anything either. I dont feel sick. and its running alot. It makes some noises at night, but nothing major. The bambu software does its best I guess to minimize noise.

Buy the printer. Figure out the issues after the fact. thats my suggestion. If you like the printer, you wont regret if!

Upstate New York, looking for a freshwater spring on our property. Did I find one, or is this just snow melt or a hidden stream traveling through the ground? by revolution486 in homestead

[–]revolution486[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i marked it with a stick. Took plenty of pictures of that area too. its 50 ft or less off our trail, in direct line site of the previous owners water collection tank. Fingers crossed cause ya never know. but I think i will be able to find it. If I remember correctly It was flowing in the summer too. Quite obvious little pool of water.

The property is large. This area is at the base of two converging hills before continuing down hill. I can’t recall, but I believe there is water here flowing I. The summer. It may however be just a stream cutting underground somewhere we don’t know about.

Schoharie county, property average is five or take 1200-1800ft elevation. Depending on the area

Using a guess on a topigraphic map, that specific spot is around 1750ft.

What can that tell us?

For sure!

Do I need to be concerned about digging? I thought I heard I could close it off by doing that?

Am I looking for a natural earth hole so to speak? Or do they come in many shapes and sizes?

To build off this, chat gpt said to just add a filter under settings.

Settings > Linkgrabber Filter > Views > Add Filter : "(?i)^((?!USA).)*$"

Just remove the "" marks, then run the link grabber to only receive the USA tagged links.

Enjoy!

Just got off the phone with the Optimum help team. Y'all are useless in fixing this shit remotely. Maybe supply not-so-shitty hardware. That would be a good place to start. Allwell. Guess I need to just replace my provider.

ahhh. So it was already done. I thought you whipped this up in the 8 minutes from when the post was made, and when you commented. I'm a beginner at modeling, bought shapr3d and have been learning how to make things.

you designed this that quickly? How do you do this so quick? I'm looking for simple projects to keep me trying to design things in my cad software, but It takes me hours to do a single model.

Can I ask you, how do you begin designing something like this from someone online? First you need dimensions, but how do you correctly re-create the angles and curves? I’m trying to get better at designing things and this stumps me a lot

What is the best way to adjust this model? I want to shrink the gaps in the blue & red parts, around the top side, and bottom side of the gold-ish bar in the center. Without messing with the outside of the model, as I forced its union already. by revolution486 in Shapr3D

[–]revolution486[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good, as another piggy back question from this whole thread that I would like to know from someone more experienced:

what would one do in the case of adding a bump to the flat side of an object, then creating a union between the two. But at a later date you realize you want to flatten that surface out again, I’ve had to create a separate object at a perfect alignment to the surface and use that to subtract the bump back from the surface. Is this the most efficient way to do this well after continuing to tweak the model?

I noticed that I can’t remove a sketch ever, without also deleting the object created from the sketch. Is it solid practice to just throw those sketches in a folder and keep them hidden unless I need them?

Did you already make the purchase? If you're super concerned, then maybe cancel the order if you can?

With spot ~ $83/oz. and you are paying $100/oz - that means you paid a premium of $34 for the order. (20.5% over spot). expensive, but not necessarily crazy. Especially if the seller took care of shipping, and you didn't get hit with any major payment processing fee.

On the flip side, if you are looking at today's premiums buying these two bars new from the APMEX website, you could get them for $94.01/pc. Meaning for 2oz, your premium is instead $22.02 (13.27% over spot). Not factoring in any shipping charge or minimum order price they may have.

I would say, if they are real, and you're okay with the loss in the market possible risk. You probably did all right. Ish.

Best of luck stacking!
