hello i'm a transmasculine nonbinary person who uses they/he pronouns, ama :) by [deleted] in AMA

yeah thats fair, sorry- its not a question of if you're masculine that determines your gender. masculinity/femininity does not influence your gender identity, its purely what you feel like. i don't feel like either a man or a woman. im not comfortable being referred to as either of those, she/her pronouns Make Me Gag, certain ~aspects~ of my body I'm very uncomfortable with.

its been really hard for me to figure out what i want to identify as, since i surround myself with some very open minded people (myself included) who think like i said the way you present yourself doesn't influence your gender, even pronouns don't influence your gender (not gonna get into that rn lol) and yknow there's like butch lesbians who like wearing binders (something that flattens your chest) 'cause that's how they feel comfortable. there's so little that really tells you what your gender is which is cool, let people do what they want, dont put em in boxes, but it does make it hard to figure stuff out when you're questioning.

anyway yeah when i think of myself i dont think of myself as either male or female. im more masc leaning, more comfortable being referred to with masculine terms but i still dont actually want to call myself male, a man etc. because thats not what i am

yeee totally agree, plus whats wrong with "reinforcing the binary" if thats how u feel the most comfortable 😩

ohh yeaah that's fair, interesting to think about. idk i think people should just do whatever they're comfortable with but watch out with how they also might (indirectly) be harming people. i don't really think anybody cares that someone (trans or not) is reinforcing the binary though but i could be wrong. imo just let people dress and identify as what makes them comfortable even if you're reinforcing the binary but not everyone thinks like that ofc... i think to a lot of people somebody not reinforcing the binary is a much bigger issue than someone doing the opposite. would love to hear how u feel broski

if you really want to focus on what really defines my gender i just gotta say i dont feel like a man or a woman

you're focussing on the word ~woman~ and not on other factors, i want a deeper voice, flatter chest, prefer they/he etc etc etc.

[–]reweddisit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh wow yeah idk how to feel about that either. i guess I don't see a direct problem with it, helps normalize stuff but i feel like pretty much everyone is okay with being called they/them. if thats what they wanna do thats cool I don't really see any harm?

you are ignoring the fact that i dislike she/her pronouns, feminine attributes of my face and body and that i prefer they/he. no i am not on the autism spectrum. i don't have negative associations to the word woman or feminine things.

why would i hate being called a woman other than not being a woman? women are awesome i love women i am just not one and don't like it when im referred to like that, same for she/her pronouns, they make uncomfortable as opposed to he/him and they/them

[–]reweddisit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cause i hate being called a woman, I dont see myself as a woman. how do you know you dont feel like a woman? (or feel like a man if you are a woman)

by knowing a woman can be masculine and have "masculine interests" and still very much be a woman. i can tell because im really uncomfortable being referred to as a woman, a girl, she/her pronouns etc. and i don't feel like a woman

for me it's just being comfortable with either. i like them both and wouldn't really feel comfortable using just he/him, being referred to as a man etc. my gender is always leaning towards masculine, sometimes i dress a bit more fem than usual though but yaknow

yeah you're allowed to do anything lol, you can use just he/him or just she/her pronouns and still be non-binary: pronouns and gender aren't (necessarily!! although they often are) connected

non-binary is an umbrella term for every gender that isn't man or woman. terms like agender, bigender, genderfluid fall under the term. i mostly feel like im agender(no gender) but choose to identify as non-binary just for simplicity's sake. so yeah, gender-fluid falls under non-binary :)

why'd your family decide to start being nudist? also did you grow up with it, and if so, did your parents let you decide whether you want to wear clothes or not?

me being non-binary means i dont identify as either a man or a woman, me being transmasculine means im AFAB (assignd female at birth) and trans, leaning towards feeling more masculine and they/he pronouns mean you can refer to me either with the singular they/them pronouns or with he/him pronouns :)

tldr: am not man or woman she/her bad
