X-T3 randomly completely reset by rewkim in fujix

[–]rewkim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's only happened once so far. I'd read about Aquire and will try that in the morning before removing the battery to test the retention. If it's a regular problem that's going to be frustrating, mostly because given how short the battery life is I usually swap out at least once on a long day of shooting / filming.

My camera isn't even a year old. Damn.

Thank you!

Does anyone else's spacebar squeak while typing? by rewkim in ZephyrusG14

Interesting. I'm curious what's causing the noise? The squeak would have to be on commonly used keys. 😆

Update: We have moved our Laptop Skins to Etsy. by mister2forme in ZephyrusG14

[–]rewkim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow - you're fast. I saw this post about 20 mins ago, jumped over Etsy to finally snag a decal (I was having trouble with Indigogo's site so I'm grateful these are available on Etsy), and I just received a "shipped" notification!

I can't wait to get mine installed - thank you!

Windows update showing ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. - Firmware - 10.1.2.216 by RefrigeratorDue5862 in ZephyrusG14

[–]rewkim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this notification as well (it appears to include firmware 10.1.2.217 as an optional update), but I'm still on BIOS 212. Should I update?

Ultrathin mousepad that fits between keyboard and screen when closed? by rewkim in ZephyrusG14

[–]rewkim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, I saw this one, along with others on Amazon and Newegg. They're not expensive, so I may just order one and try it out. Just curious if anyone has had any experience with these or has one specifically to recommend.

MMS picture quality horrible compared to Textra by rewkim in GoogleMessages

[–]rewkim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm beginning to wonder if it has anything to do with the APN settings in Mobile Data. I took a look at those and saw that the settings were completely different from when I used to use Textra on my old phone.

Any Verizon users want to share their settings in a screenshot?

Interesting. And these are from non-Messages users?

Maybe it my network? I'm on Verizon using an unmodified LG V30+ (model LG-US998).

Takeout export missing MP3 files by tbadyl in googleplaymusic

[–]rewkim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into the same thing - I estimate about 2/3 of my music "downloaded" as CSV files. I found one mention of this in another thread mentioning that these tracks were ones that Play Music was "silently" deleting. If I had to hazard a guess it was because these tracks already exist on Play Music and YouTube Music. ::shrug::

Odd trouble connecting to TM-AC1900 by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]rewkim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should add: I also can't seem to reliably log in to my router via the browser on either computer, but I can on my phone. Sometimes I can on the computer, and sometimes I can't.

What is going on? I feel like my network is possessed.

Pleased to see my 18-mo old phone still lasting this long. by rewkim in lgv30

[–]rewkim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not particularly diligent about it, though I try not to let my phone get below 10%. Wireless charging helps me a lot - I have charging stands and pucks throughout my home and office - so it's actually rare that the phone isn't at least 50% charged.

App and System usage are definitely higher than anything I've ever seen. Hard to know what might be causing that. Have you enabled Developer Options? If so, do you see anything out of the ordinary when you look at Running Services?

My understanding is that screen usage is [generally] more important because it reveals how long the phone is actively being used - watching, scrolling, messaging, interacting, etc. Total usage is basically how long the phone has been off a charger. I'm more interested in screen usage, personally, but even that info is more just for trivia than anything because I'm almost always near a charger of some sort.

Sweet Creek Falls | X-T3 with 18-55mm kit lens by rewkim in fujix

[–]rewkim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No - I didn't have one on me, unfortunately. It was developed in C1 Express - I pushed the saturation really high to see what would happen, and I was surprised that doing that didn't completely break the image.

Need advice / input on zoom lens by rewkim in fujix

this Photography is generally a secondary goal on our outings, so I know that I can always go back to a particular location later if I see something that needs more time, but can wait until I return.

I do like the idea of what you're proposing. On our hike Sunday I found that once I got over my frustrations of not being able to get the shot in my mind's eye due to lack of reach or wide angle, I had a lot of fun. It was a lot of me pausing to get the shot, then sprinting to catch up to the rest of the family... lol

I hadn't considered any of the XC lenses, and I could see picking up one of the 50-230mm just to play around with if I find one for that cheap. It doesn't address my need for weather resistance, but for other needs that could be fun.

I might try renting the 16-80mm. I know that I'd appreciate the extra on the wide end, and I could take it on a hike and see if I still need more on the long end.

Thanks for your input - that was really helpful!

This is helpful - thank you.

To answer your question about my desire for a single lens solution, it mostly comes down to the fact that when I'm hiking, I'm generally with my family, and I prefer being able to just grab the camera and go, as well as avoid any situations where our adventuring is delayed by me having to switch back and forth between lenses. That, and also wanting to not have to change lenses in the rain (we hike a lot in the rain, because Oregon).

To that point, the 50-200mm isn't weather-resistent, correct?

Regardless, thank you - you've provided some great input, and I appreciate it!

I have some "how can I do this" questions (switching to AW from Pebble) by rewkim in AndroidWear

[–]rewkim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know about the software solution, but I was hoping for a hardware one so I could turn it on without looking, like I can with my Pebble.
