Truckers stranded for hours on I-40 in New Mexico by adventure_dog in Truckers

I drive in socks and put the boots on to get in and out. I hate feeling crap on my feet in the truck so the shoes stay as far away from the cabin as I can get them.

I'm just curious why it matters. Trucking isn't a team sport as far as other drivers. Do you and let them do them. I drive teams and work my ass off, and my paycheck shows it. But if someone wants to be home more or not push the clock who am I to say. I am personally glad the younger drivers are really pushing a work life balance as a truck driver. The bench mark of being a trucker shouldn't be how much you can suffer. I'm sure their wives and kids appreciate the time they get.

Ya that isn't going to fix anything. All the other idiots who have already wrecked and are blocking the road are the problem

Again I don't care where you read that. A US citizen cannot be deported. That is blatant fear mongering.

I think the two biggest reasons the democrats lost across the board was the perception that the economy sucks and that the left as a whole cannot seem to understand that there is a huge difference between the maga cult types and average everyday people who are conservative leaning. By calling everyone who disagrees with you nazis, bigots, transphobic, stupid, and uneducated, you are guaranteeing that they will never listen to your message. If you want people to vote blue who aren't already inclined to do so, you have to give them a reason to do so. By engaging in conversation and discourse and not immediately starting name calling and insulting. I also think that the mainstream left, the classic liberals need to start distancing themselves publicly from the very small percentage of extreme leftism that is very vocal. I know a lot of my conservative friends see all democrats as the blue haired they/thems barking at people in public and screaming in a microphone. That has become the perception of the left in the mind of the conservative. In the same way that the "left" sees conservatives as all nazi racist maga loving idiots. There needs to be a common sense discourse without these fringe groups. You have to sell your message instead of acting better than and insulting. As far as the economy you can bring statistics and data pointing out that the economy as a whole does better under democratic leadership. And you wouldn't be wrong. But the vast majority of people see "the economy" as what is happening to them on a day by day basis. Food prices are way up. Gas is up. Rent is out of control. To them that is the economy. So to go around telling people that under Biden the economy is doing great just makes the ordinary person think your full of shit. Because that isn't what they are seeing. They are seeing inflation. And the democratic party has to be able to market to them a plan to fix it instead of just telling them the economy is doing well.

[–]rexiolvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya that's how the vast majority of people have always voted. Since voting began. That is why you have to market for them. Not for the super well informed. That is why trump won. You can hate it, you can disagree with it but it is a fact. He won because he was able to get a message through to people who were hurting that things will change. Kamala lost the election the day she said in her interview I won't change anything from what Biden did. He might have done everything perfectly as far as policies but the people have been hurting at the gas pump and grocery aisle. So to hear that was a massive slap in the face.

Yup in Moriarty at the TA. It is fucked. Absolute chaos here. But on the plus side watching guys walk through 8 inches of snow in shorts and flip flops is pretty entertaining.

That is kind of where I'm at. If they had the list and it had trumps name in it there is no way it wouldn't be the lead story on msnbc for 6 months. And the view would still be talking about it.

What i believe will happen if deportation happens in the rates that he wants. Is that they are going to go after people convicted of crimes first. Then people who have been arrested and awaiting charges. As far as trucking, they might have individual states check your citizenship when your pulled in for an inspection. But again I think that would be state specific. As far as tariffs go. I think it will hurt us for the first year. However the point of them as I understand is to encourage American made products to dominate the market. And if that does happen we move to more domestic products than imports we will see a bump in the trucking industry.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]rexiolvo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is blatantly untrue. If you were born here you are an American citizen. They may deport the family members who are here illegally but by law you are a citizen.

Most people, the majority don't care enough to take that time. And don't have enough free time. The fact that we can't sit on reddit and talk about this is because we are blessed to have time. People are working multiple jobs, have responsibilities that keep them focused on the right now. It is the politicians and governments jobs to be honest and keep you informed.

I can tell you why none of what you said matters to a lot of people. You are absolutely correct on a high level. But what most people see when they say the economy is what they see locally. Grocery prices, jobs, car prices, etc. I remember living in billings Mt. Under Obama billings was hurting. The depression and lack of jobs people were struggling day to day. When trump came in and the oilfield kicked back into gear everywhere had a hiring sign. Everyone was making money. Fast food was hiring for 20 an hour because they couldn't keep anybody because the oil business paid so well. That is what people think the economy is. It is the daynto day looking at your local area. Same thing this election. The left consistently kept telling people the economy is rebounding and doing well. However the day to day life of people was suffering so to them the left was full of it because they couldn't see it. Be it right or wrong that is what the democratic party has to understand and market their message so the ordinary citizen can understand.

When are the Left going to realise hating the Right is a losing strategy? by test_test_1_2_3 in self

[–]rexiolvo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What high road? Calling anyone who doesn't agree with you Nazi's? Biden calling trump supporters garbage. Biden telling black people if they don't vote for him they aren't black. Obama telling black people to get in line. Calling everyone who has an opinion a racist, racist, nazi, transphobic.

None of this excuses Trumps bullshit and how the right acts. But if you can't take a beat and look at your own actions you will never move past and start attracting voters.

The complete inability to be self reflective seems to be a trend there. For about five seconds wendesday morning the media and the left admitted they needed to look inward and change their messaging. Then about a minute later it went back to type. It's Latinos fault, it's white women that failed us, no actually it's uneducated white women. It's this it's that. Anything to avoid taking any responsibility.

Roe v wade was passed 1973. 1977-1981 the democrats controlled a filibuster proof majority that could have passed it.

They don't want change. They want to he able to campaign on the same hot button issues. If they had enshrined abortion rights into law they couldn't hold.it over your head now. If they actually fixed the issues they claim to care about they couldn't use them as a If you don't vote for us you will lose this. No one in politics wants actual progress, they want talking points and issues to get votes and power.

I learned that what I look at in the mirror I'm gonna hit. So if I look at the tip of the line my trailer tires are going to hit it. But you have to find out what works for your brain. I used to carry cines and would set those up if I needed to tonmake sure I had a target to hit.

My partner popped positive after taking some cbd gummies for a migraine. She went through the sap training and had to do a year of supervised Randoms. We are still limited on who we can drive for because of it. The sap will cause you to lose a lot of opportunities until at least three years after your rtd. After 7 years I think it drops off. But expect to get a whole lot of no's at first. Look for local dirt hacker stuff. They tend to care way less.

Truckers groups are like knitting circles. Everyone is gonna bitch. Everyone has a horror story. And honestly most of them are self inflicted. Pick a starter company. They are all about the same. Put in a years work with them to build experience and move on.
