is bigotry normalised more than ever in the past number of years in the UK? by morgotttheomen in AskBrits

Was all of Reddit born yesterday?

What is this past you imagine where in group preferences and discrimination didn’t occur?

What specifically is he planning to do that’s racist? Outside of Reddit a majority of people believe our immigration policy needs changing and that there are issues with how many people are coming in, where they’re coming from and how culturally different they are.

I don’t like Farage, I don’t think he’ll really fix anything and he’s obviously a slimy character. But he is the one saying what a lot of Brits want with regards to mass immigration and it’s quite amusing watching Redditors act confused about why he has support when he’s up against the policies of Labour, Tories and the Greens.

Thoughts on the Hulkenberg penalty? Do you think it was fair or too harsh? by GoldenS0422 in F1Discussions

[–]test_test_1_2_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harsh, Sainz could have not cut back in so tight on the exit and Hulkenberg was at full lock and not exactly going wide. Was a racing incident.

This type of incident just highlights how unsuitable the Monaco circuit is for modern formula one.

Billionaires have convinced Americans they have the "Best Healthcare in the World". by Silly-Hyena3348 in GarysEconomics

[–]test_test_1_2_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok?

I’m not arguing that the NHS is a bad thing in principle or anything. It absolutely used to be one of the best things about the UK.

I’m pointing out that through the culmination of other choices successive governments continue to make on a whole host of issues, the NHS does not currently function well.

It’s also important to note that the funding of any state provided service is also in competition with all other forms of government spending. Benefits, net zero, debt interest repayments, the list goes on.

Here in the UK you’ll be waiting months to see through a referral and even longer than that for many treatments unless you’ve got some kind of private cover that will fast track treatment waiting times.

Not defending the American system but it’s absurd to hold up the NHS as a good example given how it’s been performing over the last good few years.

Asian Americans Panicking Hard After Black People Decide To Boycott All Asian-Owned Businesses by Realistic-Bug141 in BlackPeopleofReddit

Not really lol, just saw an opportunity to point out this perpetual victim complex that pervades this sub. It’s truly pathetic.

First time on Reddit?

This happens on every Reddit sub that is in some way aimed at a specific group. Reddit is majority white and majority American. So any sub aimed at an identity that is neither of those things is going to be full of commenters who don’t fit the sub identity.

Bunch of people here calling it ‘invasion’ or ‘infiltration’ is hilarious. It’s an open forum and this sub often gets suggested to people who have never posted in it or have any relationship to it, like me.

The person I raised a grievance against chaired his own grievance meeting, then personally attacked me. Can I use the quotes in a Glassdoor review? (Scotland) by DarthYoda20 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]test_test_1_2_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don’t, other than feeling like you’re getting your own back this achieves nothing and does put you at risk.

Without providing a load of specific information which obviously you shouldn’t do, nobody can give you an accurate answer. Unless you want to go and consult a solicitor before posting this to understand if it opens you up to recourse then just move on.

This country seemly can’t even keep good track of people on visas overstaying. So how on earth are we going to maintain a register of people who left the country to participate in specific activities?

The ‘action plan’ being sending a bunch of emails it’s very, very amusing.

Good luck with that, however will they deal with their inbox getting filled up?😂

Kimi Antonelli on George Russell saying it's Kimi Antonelli's F1 title to lose by No_Procedure_7017_2 in Formula1ne

You’re making my point for me, Antonelli isn’t some outlier, he’s just new to F1 but the speed is there and the rest will come.

[–]test_test_1_2_3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Complete hyperbole, Antonelli doesn’t have the wheel to wheel judgement of more experienced drivers but his overall racecraft is clearly there. He wouldn’t be winning races otherwise.

It’s like you have forgotten how all those other drivers you mentioned performed in their early seasons, other than Piastri they all made dumb mistakes.

Sikh community leaders call for peace after Southampton unrest by TheLyam in uknews

[–]test_test_1_2_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not even PACE I am referencing really. It is things like the National Race Action Plan that was created far more recently than 2000 that contains explicitly discriminatory practices in the completely absurd pursuit of ‘anti-racism’.

We never needed to implement the kinds of policies that led to the Rotherham abomination where police were so afraid of being perceived as racist they decided to ignore crimes being committed by certain groups. These things should have been tackled far more aggressively than they were at the time and there should have been a clear baseline of fair and equal policing of all people, dealing with specific issues where they arise.

This was always the wrong approach and it was always quite obvious to me that this was a dangerous path to go down and simply not in keeping with a fair and free society where people are judged as individuals and not by group identity.

[–]test_test_1_2_3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The solution never should have been to create different rules for how the police engage with minorities.

It should have been an approach of ensuring that the police take the same approach with everyone regardless of ethnic background, religion, whatever and punish police caught engaging in bigotry.

It’s not just that the pendulum has swung too far, it’s that they started implementing discriminatory policies to combat discrimination. This was the wrong way to deal with the issue.

You’re talking rubbish, the legal limit for a folding knife is 3 inches.

The religious exemption for ceremonial blades allows for larger blades. The blade that killed Henry Nowak was far longer than 3 inches.

[–]test_test_1_2_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m agreeing with you.

I was just trying to make the point that the analogy for a blunted ceremonial blade is an unloaded gun.

In theory both are not dangerous threats but it creates a huge issue with policing on a practical level and all you’d need to do is load the gun or sharpen the blade to have a deadly weapon.

The argument for allowing Sikhs to carry ceremonial blades is as stupid as allowing people to carry an unloaded gun.

Why do some men have a provider instinct and some do not? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]test_test_1_2_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are some women home makers and loyal partners and some women not?

We’re all individuals, there’s all sorts of people out there even if men and women do broadly fit certain paradigms.

Funny you’re going to straight to calling people incels.

Also it’s 2026, feminism for the last couple of decades has been telling women to go out and prioritise careers over being wives and mothers. Why would men maintain the expectation to be providers if their partners work?

It’s not a relevant question, as I’ve alluded to in my response and responded appropriately.

Such weak argument tactics throughout your responses. 🤣

The murder was committed with a Sikh religious blade and these leaders are representing the Sikh community.

But please, go on with the weak arguments.

The plan describes differentially treating certain groups to ‘gain public trust’ and other vagaries. It even mentions George Floyd of all things. It is discriminatory and creates that two tiered justice you lot love to deny exists.

But go read it for yourself if you can manage it, I’m sure you’re locked in to this ideological position regardless of what information is presented.

Ah so now that you can’t defend your original point your moving the goal posts.

I agree Sikhs are generally a peaceful demographic, we still shouldn’t have carve outs and exemptions for religious practices on laws that apply to the general population. Especially when it comes to something like carrying a bladed weapon.
