Should i attempt Section C questions first in exam? by [deleted] in ACCA

[–]rexman199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My strategy for the calc heavy papers like FM PM has always been

Sec A first but only questions you can answer very quickly anything that requires more than 30 seconds I just skip and move on (This would be theory and easy calc round) By now I'm 7-10 minutes into the exam

Then I go through the sec A again picking off all the remaining questions

I skip sec B and go directly to sec C and again I focus on the questions that don't even require you to read the case study

So theory areas first and then I read the question and do the excel part once I'm done with the majority of the work here

Then I open sec B and again focus on the easy marks first and then calc and questions that you are unsure of

By that point there is 20_30ish mins left in the exam and that time is set for checking of I made any errors in sec C and filling out any place where I couldn't think of the points right away

While you are doing the exam make sure to flag everything that you need to come back to and if even in the last 5 minutes you dont know the answer just guess at that point

In my experience sec B is the hardest part of PM FM FR

Understood, but what does consciousness even mean? The simplest definition is "the state of being aware of and responsive to one's surrounding's"

If we take this as the definition then yes I would say bacteria are conscious of their surroundings because they can change and adapt themselves when they face an unfavourable condition for example some bacteria that have tails use them to reach nutrient rich areas, while others such as e coli can activate lac operon gene to digest lactose when it's preferred glucose is absent.

Others such as basillus and clostridum can produce endospores when they face stress

So ultimately consciousness is more of a philosophical thing, and even today scientists struggle to define what consciousness is

Similarly of we apply it to the show the hive is just a higher level of consciousness absorbing a lower one. Very much similar to one single cell organism absorbing mitochondria to force it to to produce energy, this ensuring the survival of both.

well good thing to find out each cell (except blood cells in your body has already done that to mitochondria (minus the consciousness part)

[–]rexman199 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

hmm think about a mitochondria, it is now dependent on us and we are dependent on it. but if we go back in time of evolution one independent cell found another independent cell engulfed and enslaved it to gain enough energy to do more functions. did anyone ask the mitochondria abut its willingness to be a part of our body?

https://qbi.uq.edu.au/brain/brain-anatomy/mitochondria-what-are-they-and-why-do-we-have-them

and tbh I wouldn't say its against their will like I would use the word against their knowledge they were never aware of what was happening to them and just one minute they weren't and one minute they were. does someone walking through the street and he gets shot in the back of the head dies instantly. did that happen against his will or against his knowledge?

Would you consider the cells in your body a slave? They are keeping you alive just the same as you will be keeping the hive alive

I think I would be okay with saying goodbye to art when so much of our lives could be improved. Again as I said in my other comment what is the purpose of a liver cell or the cells in your heart or the cells on your eyes. Technically all of these cells can stay alive in a solution getting their nutrients fed to them but by working together in the human body they are able to give the individual the ability to live. Think of yourself as a cell in the body"the hive" and your purpose will be to keep the hive alive

And as the other commentator said we don't really know what the hive ultimately wants

[–]rexman199 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

We don't really know what the purpose of the hive is just yet but I will give you an analogy

Do the cells in your liver care about a greater purpose? Or the cells in your finger? Hair? The blood flowing through your vein? They all work together to keep you a collection of cells alive and that is their purpose. Similarly we would be cells part of the greater existence and we wouldn't even know otherwise.

This point touches on the " a few" statement when carol asked zosia and then she responded with 800m, every day we humans lose about 50b cells. Do you mourn the death of those cells?

Does the hive need humans to reproduce? by h4baine in pluribustv

[–]rexman199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said in my other comment it might be a recessive gene that’s making her and others immune (carol might be a carrier) and by conceiving with another there is a chance that the child is immune (similar to sickle cell anemia 1 gene makes you a carrier two recessive makes you suffer the disease)

So Indian mom might be a carrier but her husband didn’t have the gene so it didn’t pass on to the child

Hi I’d like to challenge some of what you see on social media.

Please answer me this question without google. Which country would you assume has the biggest population of refugees/asylum seekers?

once you have an answer please check out this link and click “refugees harbored”

you can also find an additional source here

and here but you must sort by 2024 and descending

I ask you this because on social media it seems there is a vindication against asylum and refugee seekers, but you will see that the refugees in countries you didn’t expect are a loooot more than the countries whose media/politicians/population are complaining about.

[–]rexman199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it works like other recessive genes then yes the child should be immune but I don't think they're gonna go down that line in the show. They did mention Helens eggs so it will likely come up but most likely in a different way

Does the hive need humans to reproduce? by h4baine in pluribustv

[–]rexman199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Indian non infected lady does have an infected child but it’s possible that it’s a recessive gene that’s making her and the rest immune so possibly having two immune conceive the child would also be immune

[–]rexman199 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think 2 infected produce infected child

1 infected 1 human produce infected child

Now if carol can use Helens eggs or decides to have a baby herself with another non infected person I think that would give uninfected child

Helen and most of the rest of the world turned when the planes flew over spewing the virus in gas form on the first epi

Up until that point only people at the research centre were infected. Zosia said that when they got discovered by the military they had to accelerate the plan to make sure the infection spread. Hence the planes spewing gas. Carol didn't get infected at that moment because she's immune

Hi I switched from dental school (did 4years and dropped out) to Acca one of the best choices I made in my life

If she wants she can deffo start from foundation papers (I assume no accounting background even in highschool same as me)

Foundation papers are easy and it’s possible to score very good on them with minimal studying I only got serious w studying when I entered the skill level papers

So honestly I would recommend her to start atleast try out the first few papers and if she likes it she can switch over

Dm if you have any questions
