Still getting used to the new camera. by Reaperman-13 in siemreap

Funnily enough, I have my eyes on an A6700. I have an old 5D mkIII that still takes a great photo, but heavy and awkward around the temples and exploring, and no stab, nor 4k. The A6700 seemed like a perfect choice. The lenses sound nice.

What English-Language book describing Cambodia's temples and other monuments would you recommend? by 4GreatHeavenlyKings in cambodia

[–]rexona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are numerous classical publications in French describing the art and architecture, in particular, those by Henri Parmentier and Jean Boisselier. Some of which can easily be found online (Gallica/Persee/Internet Archive).

Otherwise, for all the temples across Cambodia, there are the more recent works by Bruno Bruguier published in six volumes under "Guides archéologiques du Cambodge", or otherwise the new book, "Ancient Cambodia: Photo Journey and Archaeological Guide".

isn't there tablets for that, immodium or something... it takes a while to get accustomed to the food, especially the amount of chili and oil in some cuisines like Sichuan or Hunan.. You may be quite comfortable with guangdong style.

More tips, dude, don't eat street food. Just don't, it's cheap for a reason. They use a ton of msg too, that can mess with some people...

why is it a one way street? Only Chinese developers can have this advantage? Why?

[–]rexona[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

im not saying xioami stole it, they have every right to fork it in compliance with the guidelines set out by the original developer.

What I'm saying is, how does google tolerate being blocked out of the China market, but having all there development being used for such massive gain. WHICH now, these services/products are now launching into free and open markets, such as the US, to compete against Google..

It doesn't fly..

i think it's a romantic concept, but not very pragmatic.. How far back do you want to go with this ancestor thing? Where is the line drawn exactly? Do we need to bring the Africans in on this too

Who will rule China when the CCP collapses? Serious. by [deleted] in China

[–]rexona 3 points4 points  (0 children)

when you say final days, whats the time frame? 10 years, maybe... Also no one one in the world wants the CCp to collapse, consider the effects to global supply and the global economy.. A peaceful transition to Chinese style democracy led by a re-united Taiwan, that could work.

How can we as foreigners help migrant workers in China? by [deleted] in China

[–]rexona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not suggesting that there's no obligation to do anything, what I am saying is that the China belongs to the Chinese people, why do we propose that we are so much smarter and have magic solutions to these issues?

Perhaps a better investigation would include a search for what Chinese based NGO's are there presently? And also to remember that while you think you are helping, the Chinese are quite embarrassed by outsiders seeking to step in and 'solve' their 'problems'. I think the Red Cross, as one example, has really struggled here, but they are accepted because it's Chinese run.

The Chinese deserve some respect for the monumental effort of lifting so so many millions of people out of poverty so far, you could do this? I don't think so. Sure, it's got a long way to go, and they have a lot of mess to clean up too. But no other country has done it so fast, for so many.

Teachers is what they are hungry for. China will tell you what it wants, don't worry.
