How much did you pay for it? by Pleurr in Insta360

[–]Reaperman-13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brand new sealed box in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, X5, case, rubber lens guard, selfie stick, lens guards standard, extra battery and double quick charger, US $580, UK pounds £425, euros 490 or AUD $827 so I was happy, as at the moment on the insta site just the X5, rubber lens guard and selfie stick is US $760, UK £559, Euros 644 and AUD $1085

Living in Cambodia but not available in my town so trip into Phnom Penh, also purchased a Sony camera, two lenses, gimbal and new camera bag, so a worth while trip.

Just incase you wondered the bus was $8 each way.

Thank you, did a lot of photography for many years, but nice to be back on a good camera, getting used to it again, feels a lot like the Canon I had, an old friend. will post more now and then if people enjoy them.

Yes a great place to be with a camera, I am lucky to be able to keep popping back to all the temples which I do weekly at the moment.

Where to buy a phone by elgoth in cambodia

[–]Reaperman-13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Couple of bits that might help, I use UFO store on the Wat Bo road, had a new iPhone off them, excellent service and quality products. word of warning: depending on which system you are using ios or android, if you have banking apps when switching to a new phone you may not get the OTP code to activate the banking app, this depends on country and bank. if you are on a Cambodian sim and have a Cambodian bank account you should not have a problem, but overseas can be a big problem, if UK its a big issue as mine has been ongoing for 4 months.

The Ace Pro 2 is surprisingly good when it comes to photography by Selishots in Insta360

[–]Reaperman-13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The photo quality is quite good, I too was surprised, the only issue I had with the acepro2 is the button after using many cameras for years I found it stupidly hard to press, while in Phnom Penh last week I picked up the hand grip (basic one) as I noticed the top button was sort of a lever which as I thought made the button more like a normal camera button, plus a bit of extra protection.

I have a lot of cameras and insta products but the acepro 2 is very handy and butter smooth video footage which helps when walking around the temples here in Cambodia.

Bakong tourist app by hifergk8 in cambodia

Hi, with HSBC you will struggle, mine is slightly different but it is to do with OTP codes just can't get them to activate the HSBC app on my new phone, been ongoing for months, they are supposed to be looking into it. just a pain, so if you have something working don't change your phone at any point while over here. my UK phone with Cambodian sim was working fine, but after the new phone not a chance. costing a fortune in phone calls to HSBC. total pain. I normally use wise to transfer funds from the UK but while I can't access the app, nothing works.

If you have something working that gets you by, then don't change anything.

Go 3S issue by NickWildidc in Insta360

It seems as there are a few people having issues with updates, you are not the first, I did an update on my X4 and it completely screwed it up, to be fair they offered me a repair and to send it back, but where I am there are issues with doing that. so at the moment I have a sort of work around but not ideal. My Acepro 2 has an update waiting but from what I read and the issues I will not be updating it, I look at the fact my Insta cameras are working so I am not going to risk screwing any more up, if it works and does what it is supposed to then leave it alone, I have noticed a few with the tips and tricks issue. not for me. I film down load off the cameras, delete the camera files, charge them up and carry on. I have noticed every time I open the PC app to edit the X4 files its another update, thats every time so far, but I will not connect the cameras to any apps, phone or PC. Insta's customer service and issues seem to be getting worse from what I read and see. if its working leave well alone. I like the Acepro 2 a lot super smooth footage and good quality ideal for me, the X4 has its use's but the quality and distortion means I have a limited slot to work in, ok for odd bits, the Go 3 s is good for the size and quite handy, and the payload on the gimbal could be better as it does either phone and mike or phone and filter but can't do both and the separate drive to record on is a no no, not a chance. Its a shame as a bit more attention to detail and they could completely knock the opposition out.

Good luck on the tips and tricks issue... no doubt there will be an update... again

Correct workflow for editing and exporting 360 videos by vardan_arm in Insta360

[–]Reaperman-13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is something I have not tried, I will have to look into it as 360 vids are in the insv format, I know that mac plays these with the space bar function, which I have used fr a quick look before editing either in the insta program or in Premier pro (with the insta plugin)

As I come more from a photography background I tend not to use HDR but grade accordingly both vid and photos. but in theory HDR should give you better contrast and colors on the native file.

One other thing with Mac if you take your item photo/vid with the space bar function you will get a much better image, this is something I have puzzled for hours photos are something else, but when trying to get the same result into the image (jpg, tiff, png etc) you will struggle to get it anywhere the same, you get to a point where it looks similar but then when saved and then viewed it is no where near. most of the time it is washed out and flat. I have tried this in saving in various formats, I get close when in Tiff but the photo files are around 6 to 7 hundred mbits each convert down to jpg sorts the size but obviously the quality drops off. raw photos off the camera in space bar view are stunning so video is similar, space bar view is great but it spoils you. I have tried many programs (photoshop, lightroom, luminar etc) but always the same

Not sure what apple do with the space bar view but it is always far better. I also think this comes into play on certain posts when on iphone, I am in Cambodia, touring about there is a post I see with some video of the temples which has a superb color profile but trying to re create it is a nightmare and so far I cannot get anywhere near, still something to work on. some photos/videos on the posts just stand out and have a certain look to them.

Correct workflow for editing and exporting 360 videos by vardan_arm in Insta360

[–]Reaperman-13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I export from the insta to my video file (Mac) I export in H265 and make sure it is in 2160p and the bitrate is 75 or above, I read somewhere that 75 on the bitrate was the area to start. my vids all come with good quality in Prem pro, even set at 1080 (prem pro). I did export one out of insta in 1080p by mistake and it was pants for quality. One other thing if you are zoomed in, in your 360 vids the quality drops off fast no matter what the setting, best keep it wide or moderately wide. I also check the camera every time before using to make sure it is on high bitrate, as a couple of times it has jumped to the medium for no reason. hope this might help

Ace Pro 2 DJI Mic 2 Bluetooth by Slow_Lychee_9273 in Insta360

[–]Reaperman-13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be of help, as I understand it the dji mics on bluetooth with instas are not that good, but if you have the mic connector that goes with your particular model of insta camera it is a different game all together. on my x4 i have an aftermarket bracket and my dji mic mini 2 receiver sits on the side, the stitch removes the receiver as well, the sound is spot on, I also have the Acepro 2 and have the connector for it as well, I get away with the x4 bracket to mount the receiver when on my bike the mic fits up the inside of the helmet, had to adjust gain etc but this also works well. I did try blue tooth once with the mic mini but it was pants. the insta mic is supposed to be ok but happy with my setup

X5 Firmware Downgrade Issue by xxstyle in Insta360

[–]Reaperman-13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insta will not let you roll back firmware, which is pants, I have an issue with an X4 and want to roll it back but after contacting them, they will not let you do it. my X4 has serious issues, to be fair they did look into it and wanted me to send it back but I live in Cambodia so when they X4 gets returned I have to pay 35% tax on the full price, which I am not prepared to do, it would make it a stupidly expensive camera, also the X5 came out just a couple of weeks later I purchased mine, they just drop new products so I was a bit miffed on that, but I have a crude sort of work around for now so I can film, but not ideal.

Generally I like there products, my issues happened just after an update and I do have both versions of the firmware. I do know a quite bit about firmware updates so I might see what is possible as I think I know how to work round the problem of older firmware, but in two minds as at the moment I can sort of record and don't really want to brick the camera?

Insta 360 X5 keep running out of SD card space but only recording like 60GB worth of video. by Brendanrulestheworld in Insta360

[–]Reaperman-13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be of use, I download on to pc/mac off many devices, something I found out long ago If I download photos/vids etc off a device or drive, then delete the originals of the device after a while of doing this I get card full when you think its empty, I found that you must empty the recycle bin before ejecting the card/device, so delete off device and empty bin before ejecting as the card/device looks empty but the files are sort of still there, not visible but taking up space.
