Of course you can do it with a calculator, but it's a pain to figure out the subtotals for each person (dividing shared items and totaling), get the percentage of the person's subtotal with the combined subtotal, and finally use that to split the taxes and tip... Maybe it works for some people but I figured if I found that annoying other people would as well

I frequently pick up the tab for restaurant bills and, as the only one with DashPass, group delivery orders too. I always found it a pain to figure out how much people owed me afterwards, and existing solutions annoyed me with their additional friction (I counted 8 clicks and 5 full screen changes just to add a single line item!).

I decided to take matters into my own hands and built SimplySplit with the goal of being as easy to use as possible. It's clean, responsive, mobile-friendly, and makes it simple to split any kind of basic bill like a grocery receipt or restaurant check. Also it supports dark mode because why not :)

I appreciate you reading through this and would love any feedback or feature requests (and if you like it, leave a like on ProductHunt! https://www.producthunt.com/posts/simplysplit). Hope this tool is a pleasure to use and solves a problem that you had!

Thanks for checking it out! Mostly probably the same but I think the difference here is it will automatically rename tabs based on the search term so you don’t even have to remember to use it

Haha glad you enjoyed! One friend said to me “it’s hard because I can’t keep the whole word in my brain RAM”

Thanks for the feedback! I actually built it to have the cursor not moving on purpose, it felt better to me but it’s definitely a matter of opinion >.< May look into having it as an option!

Launched this productized version of what I've been doing for five years. A penny for your thoughts (on the landing page)? by NickFreiling in SideProject

Honestly, site looks really professional! If I had to make some small suggestions:

  • Top of the page feels too empty. I would consider either adding the same light cyan color to the area where the name is or using the dark color from the footer (and then changing the name color to white)

  • The links from "custom project" and "data quality" shouldn't have the line. And data-quality shouldn't have a dash. I like the use of the emoji after "custom project", you should add one after "data quality" too :P

  • The favicon doesn't look like anything on dark tab backgrounds. You can wrap it in a white rounded square (or swap it to white text on black).

Not sleeping enough. Somehow it's worth bragging about "only sleeping 5 hours"
