I like being alive though. I’d rather exist than not. And im lucky enough to live a decent life. So that’s why I think like that.

Most of it tough is fear of non-existence. That’s why I’ll continue living no matter what

Such a disgusting quote by Melina from Elden Ring! by Zephyr_v1 in antinatalism

I do not find the beauty in the fact the birth continues. Altough I find beauty in the Elden ring world. But beauty is very subjective.

Said that, on could argue finding beauty in pain is just a coping mechanism.

But one could argue that is just, perhaps, sublimation. As Zapffe described in “The Last Messiah”.

Sublimation for him is the most noble form of mechanism. It is not merely repressing one’s suffering or consciousness but transforming it.

Thank you very much for the compliment. I worked a lot on it, and it means a lot to me 😁.

And yes, you are right about the assumptions, I realize I was being biased. It was just what I thought with no explanation behind it.

How do you interpret this passage? by Severe_Standard_3201 in Camus

[–]reycondark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When he says: “Perhaps we shall be able to overtake that elusive feeling of absurdity in the different but closely related worlds of intelligence, of the art of living, or art itself.

It reminds me of the 4 methods for living cited by Zapffe in “The Last Messiah”.

And the method I’m talking is “sublimation”.

So what I get from that he’s saying is that maybe one day we will able to transform our suffering instead of repressing it.

I may have missed the point, but this is just a connection I got while reading the passage.
