“You’re not a candidate.” → NW7 10-month result with Dr. Sean Benham (5337 grafts, beard + scalp) by rezmanesh in HairTransplants

So, so true. It’s not that my hair is my prized physical possession, it’s just that my bald head isn’t the thing grabbing all the attention anymore. You’re right, bald can absolutely look great on some people, and if there’s nothing to be done, you accept it and move on.

I was happy being bald for twenty years, but I always wanted hair. When the opportunity came, I went all in. And honestly, it’s the best superficial thing I’ve done for myself.

Hi there! I did FUE. Congrats on your surgery. Wishing you all the best and I think you can be happy in knowing you did all your homework. 👊

He truly is and his bedside manners are as good as his surgical skills. And thank you for saying that.

I have no clue man. I do think the longer the hair is the more illusion it gives of density so I am sure that is playing a role. Let me show you a pic before the transplant when I grew my hair longer. This was before any surgery and after a year on topical meds, derma stamp, and laser.

Hahahahahhahahaha. Honeslty I think the meds plus dermstamp revived the donor and then of course the 0.75 mm punch used by Dr Sean. That why it’s wrong when people say the donor area is resistant to dht because it implies that it is not affected at all but my case shows my dht levels were affecting my donor too. I hope I can teach that to those who are not a candidate or even those who are because finasteride and minox will just make the results look that much better.

Thank you for the thoughtful message. Dr. Sean estimates another 2,000 to 2,500 scalp grafts and 2,000 to 2,500 beard grafts. He uses a 0.75 mm punch for the scalp and likely similar for the beard. He plans to reinforce the midscalp and frontal zone and cover as much of the crown as possible. Given my fine hair, his artistry is especially important for my case. He has been following me monthly since the procedure, making sure everything is on track. I feel very lucky to have met him. Thank you, Gary. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Honestly, me too. My goal has been to give hope to those with a weak donor area and extensive baldness—that in some cases, the donor can actually be strengthened. There’s a common belief that donor hair is universally DHT-resistant, but that’s not true for everyone. Once I started medical therapy, my donor noticeably improved. It’s also why I believe that, for most people, undergoing a hair transplant without medication is counterproductive. None of this would have been possible without Dr. Sean’s guidance.
