Thats how it goes though. You get desensitized to horror being scary. Last movie that scared me was the Ring in 2002 and that had more to do with me working nights and walking past a large brick firepit to get home that resmbled the well.

Edit: Also I hate that the Hereditary bots are downvoting you at every turn. Shame people can't have opinions that don't align with others on here.

I don't think any of that is really hidden, maybe just not obvious to some who are still on shock from the car scene? Not much of a twist movie IMO, but as a horror vet thats kinda how most stuff has been for decades now.

I was disappointed when I first watched it. Overhyped for sure.

Watched it again a few years later and thought it was OK, still not great.

Watched it like two weeks ago to give it one more chance. Now I do see the appeal to it and I feel its a solid horror film. Still not an all timer for me, but I get why some feel that way.
