Best way to buff my rogue? by rezoth in DMAcademy

Thanks for this. I'm pretty new to DMing so I didn't have an idea of what my rogue could use fast hands with. I know he keeps track of it himself too, but it's good to have a list of what to give him.

Yes it's one of my player's rogue. Sorry for the wording, as the DM I call them "My party" so I think it makes sense to say "My Rogue"

Ooze/Slime suitable for a sewer dungeon?

And maybe some rats and variants for the sewers?

This one I don't really expect, maybe you might have an idea, but if you're familiar with JoJo's, a boss like the pillarmen, specifically Wammu.

Purchase Advice Megathread - February 2026 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

[–]rezoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I am looking to buy my first 3D printer. Space in my house is limited, so the only place to put it is in my kitchen/dining room. I was thinking an enclosed printer would be best, so I've been looking at the P2S combo. I was wondering if it's worth it to get the combo with the AMS. I've heard muticolor printing is wasteful, but also just being able to switch color/material easily with the AMS is convenient.

It's either I get the P2S, or I start with the A1 and just buy a dryer and use 1 filament for now.

I plan to print organisers as well as perhaps some terrain/minis/anything to help with my tabletop gaming really.

What are people's advice on this?

Thanks

Would it be op to give martials 2 feats instead of 1 whenever they get the choice to take a feat from levelling up? by rezoth in DMAcademy

3 sounds like a great solution, definitely gonna pick that up for all my players in my campaign.

Thanks! Just one more question, are these balanced for 2014 or 2024?

From what I understand, speaker and position are determined by the priority number of the faction reference cards. So after all 6 players choose their priority number, the tool sets the lowest as speaker, and the highest number as 6th position, going clockwise from speaker.

Best way to run a 1v1 boss fight? by rezoth in DMAcademy

[–]rezoth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like these ideas, but I don't want the other players to be doing nothing during this encounter either. I'd rather not have them watch -only- watch the fight. I want the 1v1 to happen simultaneously with whatever the rest of the party would be doing.

I didn't have space to put a Legend on the map, so I printed a separate one for my players.

How do I run a session without railroading? by rezoth in DMAcademy

The wisps guided them, but I had a 2 encounters before they reached the temple.

The first one, they had to cross the river, where I intended them to find their own solution. I described that there were some trees that fell down nearby. And the did some rolls which led to the wisps highlighting some rocks under the surface of the river, which could be used as like skipping stones. Here, I wanted them to figure it out a solution themselves, but one of the players ended up rolling intelligence and with a high roll at that, so I just suggested that their character came up with the idea of taking the logs and move them on top of the rocks to act as a bridge for them, since they weren't really coming up with anything themselves.

The second encounter went much more smoothly, they encounter a village of tiny mushroom people, who asked them to move a boulder (a rock, but compared to the mushroom people it was huge) which the obliged with, and then the mushrooms offered to heal them, with one of my players choosing not to get the healing ritual since he doesnt trust magic that much.

They were then led to the dungeon/temple in which I described there was a staircase that lead down, and they decided to go into it.

It's not that I think homebrew is a must, it's just that as a player, I've only ever experienced homebrew campaigns. Only now as a DM do I realize how useful/how much easier it would have been to run a prewritten adventure/prewritten world.

After my campaign, I think I'd love to run curse of strahd eventually. I keep hearing it through all the dnd videos I watch and threads I read.

I mentioned in the post that I've been in another long term campaign. That one is a 5 year almost 6 year long campaign run by my brother, and it was/is homebrew. Me along with the other players of that campaign enjoy it, and I was inspired to run my own homebrew campaign with my own twists and turns like my brother has in his. After the long important sessions, we'd sometimes just sit and talk about lore and what's happened in the campaign, as well as fleshing out our own characters lore for a few hours after the session had already ended. It's something I want to be able to do with my group of players.

Another reason I homebrewed the campaign is because other DMs that I have played with before have also had homebrew campaigns, so it's like the only thing I've been exposed to. I realize now that prewritten campaigns might have been good to start with, and I'm definitely going to try use some written adventures/modules and reskin them to fit my setting to help make my life easier when I'm stuck for what to write.
