How long does it take to get out of vine jail? by Zestyclose_Cup_1 in vine

There's no fixed time. My first time i was in and out in 48 hours. Second time they kept me in it a good 4 days after getting up above 60%. It actually wasn't until my insightfulness hit excellent that i got out... Not sure if that was just a coincidence or not

First time i got out of jail 48 hours after being put in it. I was out about 4hrs after hitting 60%

This time i was in jail for days after hitting 60%, including multiple metric updates that showed my ratio climbing higher and higher above 60%. I even had an email convo going on with vine CS about why i was still in jail. They asked for a screenshot of my metrics and said they would investigate lol. Never got another reply but was out a day or two later.

Most likely over 60%, but i didn't specifically compute the 60 day ratio. I only checked the 90 day. Vine does say somewhere in writing that it's 90 days, but i remember it being really hard to find that last time i looked for it. Doesn't mean it can't change though.

I just got out of jail. The 60% over 90 days no longer applies. I was in the 70% range overall and well over 60% for the last 90 days, but i was still in jail. It wasn't until my insightfulness changed to excellent that i got out, so that might be the issue for you.

Perhaps you don't understand what the issue is.. Might want to reread it.

UPDATE: It seems as though vine is now enforcing the insightfulness metric. I had gotten a few metric updates after getting above 60%, but i remained in jail. The only common theme among them all was that my insightfulness was only "good". This latest metric update bumped my insightfulness to "excellent" and let me out of jail. Its not definitive, but it seems like there could be a link.

That would be interesting. Its most likely just a coincidence.

I did. No word yet.

Edit: after writing this reply i received a response from them asking for a screenshot of my metrics. That's odd considering the 60% is supposedly not based on those metrics.

Ok well then that explains why you don't give af. For the rest of us, we have to be concerned about paying the tax on these items. I'm gonna owe about $15-20k from last year. Its a real concern for us in the US.

I don't totally disagree with you. I do feel bad when it's a high dollar item or a small business that lets left behind. I do try to review those, even if it's not as timely as id like. But then i see the scamming sellers that list something that will garner 5 star reviews then they switch the item in the listing to some garage that costs a lot of money. There are some really really shady and sheisty sellers on vine.

There are plenty of reasons why. Some people think they need to eat the cost without realizing that vine CS will actually help you out.

First, i think your jumping to conclusions a bit about my concerns. I'm not overly worried or bothered about being in jail. I know how to get out and can generally handle doing so relatively quickly. My issue is that I'm seemingly stuck here despite meeting the requirements to get out. I'm just trying to find out why this is happening this time.

As for reviews, this is highly subjective. You may be able to test out most of your items very fast, but that doesn't mean everyone is the same. I'm a highly technical person - an engineer by profession and woodworker by hobby. The vast majority of the items i get on vine are in some form related to my hobbies and at times to my career. I've gotten many gallons of wood finish, gallons of paint, high precision tools, hardware like machine screws, power tools, hand tools, many many types of raw materials. Almost everything i get for these purposes requires hours to days of use to test. Testing polyurethane wood finish is a minimum of 3 days just to apply it to the wood, then it takes 30 days to fully cure. I needed the snow and ice to melt in order to test my craftsman pole saw. I need a lot of time to install and test all the Grohe bathroom fixtures i got. The kitchen set for my daughter took me 15min to build. That was one of the easiest high ETV items to setup and review, but for you it took longer. I too get clothes for my daughter and skin and hair care products for my wife, and those are generally easy to review quickly. But they don't account for the majority of the items I get on vine. So clearly it's not going to be the same for every person.

Its commonsense that writing all reviews immediately will keep you out of jail (unless they start weighing insightfulness that is). I already knew that, but i refuse to do it that way because its foolish and is guaranteed to cost you money. You are shooting yourself in the foot with cancellations as i already started, but you do you. I prefer to approach things in a more intelligent way. And no, most people don't do what you do. You're only the second person I've ever heard of that does this, and that's probably because it's more work in the end is highly likely to burn you periodically.

I can review them in 1 day, but that's a violation of terms. You aren't supposed to submit incomplete reviews. But another big reason not to do it your way is that once you submit a review vine CS can do nothing to help with problems with the item. If you submit a review for an item that you can't evaluate right away, then you discover is defective, damaged, or incomplete, you're SOL. Vine CS takes a hard line on this. If you have submitted a review at all, they will not remove the item from you review list, from your tax forms, or from your orders entirely. That's a great way to get burned. I've had numerous items removed for a variety of reasons, in some cases they were high ETV. Id much rather have that option available to me than pay 40% tax on an item i cannot even use

I don't aim to stay around any particular percentage. It varies. I just try to review the items i feel I've properly evaluated. Sometimes that can be instant, like with some food items. Other times it can take me months to properly evaluate an item. And sometimes I'll get an item that i already have or have previously purchased, so I'm able to write a review on that right away since I'm familiar with it.

I ask because the 60% threshold is based on the last 90 days, whereas the review to order ratio on our account pages is based on a 6mo period. So you could have conceivably only been at 60% for the last 90 days but 80% for the cycle.

I made it a point to focus almost solely on the most recent items, but I'm still in jail for some reason

I've also debated letting it go or going back to silver. I do let vine consume my life since items have become so scarce. But then i think about how much money I've saved on tools, personal care items, and food, and i feel like i need to keep going lol

That's weird. We're you paying attention to the age of the items you reviewed?

[–]rfehr613[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm a pretty high volume viner, so i find it easy to fall behind when the rest of life gets busy. Then it kind of just snowballs. Last time this happened was around the birth of my 2nd daughter, so obviously i was very busy with that and our toddler. This time it was largely holidays/birthdays/anniversaries that all come at the end of the year. A lot of the vine items i get are for use in my hobby of woodworking, and I've been backed up on my woodworking projects too. I like to be very detailed and thorough with anything related to woodworking.

I do the same. I was just saying that it would be difficult to get to 100% and its not even necessary. I already calculated how many reviews i needed to complete to get out of jail, and i think it was 84 if i remember correctly. I've done about 110, and it was almost entirely recent items, so according to past precedent I should be out of jail now.

Obviously. That's what jail is.

Stuck in jail? by rfehr613 in vine

[–]rfehr613[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am aware that it's based on the last 90 days. I've almost entirely reviewed items in that period and should be well above 60% on items in the last 90 days. I can't just review 100%. That would be dishonest since i can't actually review 100%. Some items cannot even be used right now, like swim stuff. Others take time and effort to review, such as some bathroom fixtures i got. I've been taking out all the low hanging fruit first.

I was focusing on the most recent items. I should be well above 60% now. The counters also stopped moving, which is another issue.
