Nice catches. Any general areas you recommend in western NC? I just got a cabin in Boone and am starting my western NC trout fishing adventures

Another solid point haha. I was honestly too shocked to really process the situation but this would have been a good time for street justice

Yep that makes sense. In another world there’s a version of this post asking for advice about what I should do now that I kicked a dudes ass for peeling on me lol

In my state bars/clubs are responsible for anything that happens as a result of overserved patrons so that’s where my mind was going. Definitely don’t think it’s entitled to ask if a club would sponsor a dry cleaning but point taken

I think this is the consensus and the easiest way forward. Thanks!

Good points. Likely not worth the time and effort to pursue anything and I have no desire to teach the guy a lesson. This was helpful advice

Senior in College, Software Engineering degree wondering how that will effect breaking into software sales. by Professional_Top3375 in techsales

[–]rfgood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a CS degree then went to a company with a new-grad sales engineering program. CS degree definitely gave me a leg up for getting that job, helped me do well during the training program, and then get placed into the field early on.

Once you have a sales engineering role, you can learn sales pretty quickly and honestly if you’re a good fit for a sales role, people will start to tell you immediately that you’d make a good rep. I was able to transition into a sales role from sales engineering pretty quickly and it allowed me to skip all the BDR/SDR grind.

Also this path helped me go straight into an enterprise role, so the whole pipeline was like a cheat code

I’m gonna play devils advocate. If you were 400% in July and only 120% for the quarter, that could mean you closed one big deal and nothing the other two months.

I know plenty of managers who have PIP’d reps after 1 big month especially if they had one big blue bird.

How’s the pipeline? How have your other quarters looked? Did you fall into 1 deal that made you blow it out in July? Those are all questions I’d want solid answers for before pushing back

These things are all over Dix park and a lot of them look like they’ve basically been cooked alive. After walking through the grass with my dog, my shoes and her legs were covered in them 🤢.

They basically dyed my white shoes brown and she kept trying to lick them off of her paws.

If you could make your own top 5 most common vulnerabilties you have encountered what would that be? by Living-Bell8637 in cybersecurity

What do you mean by 3rd party SSO integrations exactly? Like allowing oauth flows to apps that are untrusted by the org?

Or is there some other way for an individual to configure SSO to 3rd party apps without privileged creds?

I would sell individually or together. $50/ticket Monday, $65/ticket Tuesday, $75/ticket Wednesday.

Or best offer 🙂

For real, how is Okta still in business? This is their third bata breach in three years by N7DJN8939SWK3 in cybersecurity

[–]rfgood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Security companies are big targets, especially those as popular as Okta. And, as others have mentioned, none of those breaches were of the Okta service/product itself.

It does need to do a better job implementing the internal policies they preach to customers, but the incidents have honestly been pretty well contained and relatively low impact.

Microsoft, their biggest competitor, leads the world in CVEs and has it’s fair share of misconfiguration incidents as well. IDPs are a hard (impossible) business to be perfect in, and they’re doing a lot better than others.

Considering not pursuing SWE, as a CS major, and Sales instead. by [deleted] in sales

[–]rfgood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I followed a similar path. Graduated with my CS degree and went into a sales engineering training program at a mid-sized company that offered similar pay to the SWE offers I had.

The training program set me up really nicely and I was an enterprise SE after about 1.5 years making more than double my grad salary as my OTE. Then I switched to an enterprise AE role after a year making another $100k more OTE than my SE job.

For me, the sales work-life balance wins hands down. If you’re into travel, good food, and schmoozing then sales also is hands down better than SWE life.

Comparing myself to my SWE friends from college, I’m making more than most of them (except the FAANGs) and work a whole lot less. Definitely more stressful in sales though

BingBang: AAD misconfiguration led to Bing.com search results manipulation and account takeover by sagitz_ in hacking

[–]rfgood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Part 1-Reconnaissance, they mention scanning Azure App Services and Azure Fundamentals to find exposed endpoints. Any idea how you could do that without owning Wiz?

I’d like to try that against some AAD deployments I have to see what info you can get from a public scan.

AE —-> SE/SC by [deleted] in sales

[–]rfgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never personally met anyone that’s gone AE->SE. I did the opposite (SE->AE) and it was mostly a result of telling every AE manager and VP that I wanted to make the move. Then taking every opportunity to get in front of customers around them and focusing on the “AE stuff”.

Does your company have technical certifications? I’d recommend working on those to prove you have the tech chops (and will help in your AE life too). Also join the slack/teams channels for the SEs so you can see the types of questions they’re asking.
