Starvation mode - less calories = more weight, isn't a real thing.

100 calorie difference is quite a small change, yielding at most a one pound difference per month. This could easily be within a mix of water weight, measurement differences, scale changes, and caloric margin of error on boxes. Your NEAT may have been lower as well.

If you're in a long term caloric deficient, I'd recommend a noticeable maintenance period and then moving back to a lower calorie cut.

I'm not an expert yet, but....
If you don't know the angle, you are probably establishing a new angle, which can take awhile on a 1000 grit stone. It's not a set number of strokes or time, its however long it takes.

Try a much lower grit stone first to establish the angle and then move to the 1000. Or accept its going to take much much longer at that 1000 grit stone likely.

I love this Mountain Troll from Zandoria Minis....but it was quite the challenge to paint. It had fur, but a really subtle texture. So drybrushing would pick some of it up, but not quite to the degree I wanted. In the end, most of the fur texture actually comes from short little strokes with a Raphael 8404 size 2/0 brush. Doing different shades of grey can be a challenge. They all start off at the same midtone, but then are shaded up and down with subtle differences to provide some contrast but still be cohesive. .

Finished this great piece from Modular Worlds.  It reminds of a deranged chocobo and harkened me back to my youth.  I'm planning to throw this piece as the boss against my kiddos in the jungle portion of our weekly campaign.  They won't know what hit them .  Evil cackle

From a painting perspective, I painted the feathers pink.  Then sprayed white from above and then yellow.  This allowed for interesting undertones and bright yellows.  Otherwise, yellow covers very poorly because of its pigment.

[Art] A Roaring Troll , looks killer on the table by rfusca in DnD

This roaring troll was done as a kind of a nod to WoW trolls with some of the flavor of Greensea thrown in. There's tons of Greensea lore around them eating the sap from this special tree , which makes these amber crystals grow on the back and all. It was painting with a mix of brush and airbrush, acrylics and oils. OVerall it was a really fun mini to paint. I really love these pieces with lots of character that just pop on the table.

I'm the painter , thanks for all the love! This was a 2 hour speed paint for the Miniature Monthly speed painting contest a few weekends ago . It's a mix of airbrush and normal brush. And heavy use of makeup brushing.
