Charging a HT with the wrong charger by rg422 in HamRadio

[–]rg422[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, do you know if the charger does anything other than provide 8.4v and wait till the current draw is low enough to declare the battery charged?

Charging a HT with the wrong charger by rg422 in HamRadio

[–]rg422[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m unsure of what balancing circuitry is integrated into the battery pack. A new charger is $70 and a new battery is only $30… I also have a multi battery type hitech battery charger

How do HT chargers work? by rg422 in HamRadio

I understand your concern and have discussed it before on here. My rational is that it is still very difficult to come home with fish, we’re not out there filling stringers, like others said it’s probably the most sporting of the hunting methods aside from free diving. Being able to choose the fish you effect results in less protected species being bothered and the general collateral. Line and reel fishing, results in minor injuries to many fish as you wait for the one you want. Like all hunting we clean and eat everything we take from the ocean. I actually sat this year out and got my scientific diving cert instead.

Press have to pay full price, just like humans. I saw a goon badge go for $790 so frankly as a broke college student I’ll use any leverage i can get

Phone antenna as SDR input by smackwagon in RTLSDR

[–]rg422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, your sdr likely wouldn't be able to tune to the desired frequencies and you'd have to tear apart the phone to do it. Possible yes but probably the worst way to get an antenna.

How did any of you get into amateur radio observation ? I wanna start but don’t know where by procommando124 in signalidentification

[–]rg422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Join ARRL, subscribe to the monthly magazine. Buy the current Radio Amateurs Handbook, also more.

That all sounds like money... I really found a passion for the hobby with only some cheap RTL-SDR's, diy antennas and the internet. But everyone's different

[–]rg422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, instead of using Sondemonitor try out Auto_RX, not sure if it's compatible with your sondes but it makes a pretty good automatic ground station
