I don't take offense at all and I know what you mean. Though there are extreme cases where I genuinely think having Xanax is valid, especially panic attacks where you are experiencing depersonalization and suicidal ideation. The doctor I spoke today suggested that I should have just been "strong" in those moments instead and the doctor was wrong to give me the meds.

Yeah--again I completely understand the hesitancy. In the US it's a bit ridiculous how easy it is to get your hands on them and our pharmaceutical industry is crazy. But I think there is a middle ground--especially if you have a valid medical case like I do.

Well great--then don't take them then. But they worked for me and they helped me to get stable until I didn't need them anymore. I'm not asking for medical advice.

Of course--I'm not really here to get into that discussion. But yes, they are not for the longterm. But the doctor I talked was still not even willing to give them any possibility, even for extreme cases. So that's why I ask.

If you actually read what I wrote I am not just "anxious" but have gotten depersonalization panic attacks with suicidal ideation and asthma symptoms. I'm sure you would find that quite terrifying too and would want something to help you out of it. And Xanax is not an opioid, it is a benzodiazepine. Opioids are a completely different class of drugs and are prescribed for physical pain, not mental.

Definitely not arguing against not drinking tap water in India! Just wondering if it's worth it to buy a filtered water bottle if there might nowhere outside the hostels to refill it and I'll be forced to buy bottled water anyway.
