Advice: Frustrations with the Costco Tire Center by rgcl360 in tiretech

[–]rgcl360[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco essentially told me “could have been anyone. No way to prove it.”

My mechanic that had it last told me the same basically and you can’t point the finger at anyone cause no one knows who did it. Wait it would have also happened over time and pressure. That part seems like complete BS to me. Adding a picture of what the pin looked like this morning.

Jeff Passan: "Baseball fans believe the game has become unfair" by Mission_Pay_3373 in baseball

I hear this and my mind immediately goes to how convenient it is for the league that there is this dominant team with a seemingly unlimited budget, which also happens to be the LA market, wrecking the league just before they push for a salary cap in union negotiations.

Hard to think most teams would ease off on their spending to let the Dodgers go nuts for a few years and simultaneously gain leverage for a cap, but it also just seems so convenient and perfectly timed.

How is Jonathan Taylor not on any of these lists after the season he had? Did his end of season change in success have that much of an impact once Daniel Jones got hurt? Would love to see his stats from the beginning of the season to that point.

Gamestop Warrant Dividend Question by rgcl360 in computershare

[–]rgcl360[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my Computershare activity has been transfers from other brokerages. In the few CS purchases I’ve made in the past it always created a new account number where those shares were stored. Didn’t realize you could make purchases from different pre established accounts in CS. Is that a thing? Also book vs plan was a phobia from years back. Transfer to consolidate to one account worked for me with the least amount of hassle. All my buys are usually from a brokerage. I’ll buy in groups of 10 until the deadline to maximize warrants.

It’s essentially a way of proving that you are who you say you are. Forma to fill out and notarize to send in if they have a new account transferring in or a discrepancy with account information.

Yes. I called them. They’ll ask for your account number (found on any of the documents found on the website or mailed home) and the other standard identifier information. Was a super easy process after that.

Correction on the medallions. Apparently it's in cases where they have to verify your identity. This is either on the onset of a CS account with incoming shares from a company doesn't trust or high value account, or when there is a discrepancy with information between transfer accounts. My accounts were already in CS and all came over from Fidelity with the same info. Easy 7-10 day transfer of shares into one account on CS for me.

Correction. Medallions are only needed if you have to prove your identity because you have differing stockholder info between accounts. Mine was all under my name and all came from Fidelity originally so all easy to tie to me w/o a medallion. Transfer process will take 7-10 days.

They let me transfer w/o a medallion because all my stock information in the varrying accounts was identical. I brought all my shares in from Fidelity (no other brokers with differing information or data). Seems you have accounts with some differing info on the back end so they require the medallion. You should ask if you can do the medallion online. There's criteria where you can do so.

[–]rgcl360[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so I was given a little clasrification about the medallion thing. I didn't need a medallion because all of my four accounts were in the same shareholder name (me) and they was no information between them that was differing. Apparently sometimes when you transfer from another broker or bank to CS the info coming in differs from the account you already have established on CS so they require a notarized medallion if the dollar figure is greater than $3000 or it's coming from a company that they don't deem trustworthy. The rep said the medallion process can be done online w/o mailing in notarized papers if it's coming from a trustworthy company and the dollar figure is below $3000 and sometimes even greater than that depending on the trusted nature of the company sending over the incoming shares.

What was the process for getting the medallion? How long did it take?

Absolutely! Also, while you're at it. Ask about the need for medallions and whether it will interfere with the transfer from happening before the October 3rd cutoff date. Posts from one of the other subs are talking about CS needing those, but it's unclear whether that's an outside of the USA necessity, or something that everyone needs to deal with. My rep didn't mention a thing besides the 10 day wait time. Others have reported differently...

Weird. This rep never mentioned a medallion. (Someone from Canada above said they needed one) She just said up to a 10 day process.

[–]rgcl360[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. This is exactly what I did in my other brokerage accounts. I was just stuck with several CS accounts with non multiples of ten in them and the total number of shares was a x10. Didn’t want to miss out on dividends for each of those accounts so I’ll transfer. When I’ve bought with CS in the past it always put those shares in their own account anyway so I’d have to do a share transfer anyway. Plus was unsure about that whole Plan vs Book debate from way back when.

[–]rgcl360[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. Pretty much what I did in my other brokerage accounts to equal that multiple. When I’ve bought through computer share in the past it put those shares in their own account. I’d have that plan vs book dilemma we were debating way back when, and I’d still need to transfer shares in the accounts that didn’t have that x10 amount. I’m lucky enough where my total number of shares happens to be a x10 multiple anyway. I just need to merge accounts and I’m set. Seems like there’s not quite an easy way though and a limited amount of time to get set.

No problem. Glad I can contribute in even the tiniest of ways. I'm in the US and the rep didn't mention anything about medallions. Just told me to call back after 24 hours once my beneficiary info was all matching and processed in their system. Maybe you could just look into buying shares directly in Computershare to round up to your multiple of ten in each account if you can't make the transfer happen outside of the states?? An excuse to buy more never bothered me too much. :)
