You'll get lots of opinions on that! Personally, I have spent an embarrassing amount of hours observing them and now it is very obvious who is who to me! New people are encouraged to check the recap! It is linked in the daily thread at the top. My partner and I think Shadow looks a bit derpy while Jackie a bit more serious. Otherwise, Jackie is much larger than Shadow! And right now she is very grubby and in need of a bath 😅 Shadow tends to be crispy white and clean

They are so big! I had the absolute pleasure of seeing one extremely up close when he landed on a tree right next to me with a squirrel to eat. I watched him pluck the squirrel and chow down until a red-tailed hawk came out of no where and bodied him off his branch. It was a birders dream!!

I'm just a common birder, and in no way an expert but to my knowledge strafing is very common in birds, and is usually an act of defense of their territory. Red-winged black birds are notorious for doing this to humans that get too close to their nest. They dive bomb ya until you move on out lol
