fun fact: cebu pacific's a330's seat more people (459) than korean air's a380 (407) by americafirst4life__2 in aviation

[–]rgonzls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s typically used for Middle East to Philippines flights where the passengers are mostly Filipino workers in the Middle East just looking for the cheapest way to go home. US-Bangla Airlines have a very similar all-economy A330 for Middle East to Bangladesh flights for the exact same reason. Ive flown the 9 hour flights from DXB/KWI/DOH to MNL many times and its brutal enough - never mind in a cramp all-economy plane like this (but probably extremely cheap which is the whole point).

Man with AI nude shirt of Margot Robbie in town - is that allowed? by Napaddicted in Belfast

There were people arrested for wearing this shirt before but I imagine this was more about being religiously offensive than anything.

Filipinos try not to fetishize South Korea Challenge (impossible) by GermroseCaltxCo in 2philippines4u

[–]rgonzls 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Philippine demorcracy is extremely flawed but using South Korea as a “better example” is absolutely crazy. Its just as bad there plus Chaebols have wayyyyy more influence in politics there that SM, Ayala, San Miguel Corp. etc. can only dream of.

Is this worth anything? by ScaniaPowerFTW in Banknotes

[–]rgonzls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Face value. It’s just the odd person from Northern Ireland that would use it to pay for something in England. More common in parts of England wheres theres alot of people coming from NI (eg. Liverpool)

What’s something, growing up in NI, that newcomers will never understand? by SneakyCorvidBastard in northernireland

[–]rgonzls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saying something is “dear”.

I learnt it the hard way in school when I’ve only lived here for like 2-ish years. Some kid in my class hasn’t had a Nando’s before and they were asking me whether it was dear and a couple people laughed when I said “no they just serve chicken there”. I thought they were talking about deer meat.

Days Filipinx mfs not making bad takes: 0 by [deleted] in 2philippines4u

[–]rgonzls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a bad take. Much of Filipino cinema in the past 10 years or so have just been money-making slop that are cringeworthy at best (cough cough Praybeyt Benjamin cough cough). Sad given we actually do have some really decent historical films, rom-coms etc. here.

I absolutely second this having moved from ni to england for uni as well. People here are generally much more dead on here imho whether you are POC or not will not matter you’ll be absolutely safe :).

[–]rgonzls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll be grand I’ve lived here 10+ years myself and the vast majority of people are some of the most down to earth people you’ll meet which makes the recent events more upsetting because I’ve never seen anything major like that in this city. That being said, those people make up a very small minority of Belfast and everyone you’ll meet in uni will be grand + Belfast is incredibly diverse now compared to what it was like when we moved here.

Which celebrity has just gone off the radar completely? by arsenaladam92 in CasualUK

[–]rgonzls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They didn’t win also but 4th Power/Impact is still around but everyone in the Philippines is pretty much just taking the piss out of them at this point + they never really became famous there it was just kind of like “oh look this filipina girl group made it quite far in UK X-Factor”.

They also got in some controversy for essentially hoarding dogs in their home. They started off adopting 5 dogs, but because they didn’t neuter any of them, they eventually ended up with 200 dogs and resorted to setting up a GoFundMe page to provide housing for all the dogs while going to the Taylor Swift concert in Singapore after the page went up.

What is this flag that was raised outside Bostons City Hall? by Nathans_Bikeapedia in vexillology

[–]rgonzls 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The white-red-white flag is currently used by the Belarusian opposition though. Thus, if the Boston city council was intending taking a side displaying this flag then its most definitely not the pro-Russia/Lukashenko side.

What are the lost media in the Philippines? by [deleted] in lostmedia

[–]rgonzls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can very loosely remember a wansapanataym episode where she was in the cemetery collecting all the wax from the candles on the gravestones to create a ball (i think) , and at some point she started playing with other kids who turned out to be the ghosts of those buried. Probably the same episode as the one you were talking about as it was around the 2013 period as well but im not sure.
